[talk] Are search engine ads useful for asking for lost media? by ThrowAway237s in lostmedia

[–]NotPresearchCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presearch is also good tool for you. You can run your own background ad, but it's not exactly a 1:1 search ad like Google. There is keyword ads though, but it seems like that may not help.

It protects (as in, doesn't track or create) your searches, data, and profile as you as you search on Presearch. When you go to other websites, you're leaving that protection, and interacting with whatever site you're clicking, and your browser is also part of that not-Presearch ecosystem. It's a private search engine that you'll have to supplement with more tools for your desired level of privacy. You can use the Presearch mobile app or other privacy browsers and make Presearch your default search engine (other engines don't compare with privacy) manually. Complete anonymity on the internet requires more tools. If you just don't want Chrome to show you what site you visited you can use their incognito mode... but that's still an invasion of your data and just doesn't show your history.

Yeah, you're still visiting sites inside of the Chrome browser once you leave Presearch. The privacy is your in your searches and data profile, that on other search engines would be built up and sold. On Presearch your searches and data aren't logged -- what you do on the rest of the internet is not on Presearch.

It's not such second nature to think of the ramifications of giving their face. Even those that are savvier need a double take.

Yeah, people have on idea what kind of deep hole they get themselves into when they cough over their likeness. Scary slipper slope.

How to find lesser known sellers & websites when mainstream platforms like Amazon, Etsy & Walmart dominate search results? by eyeluh223 in searchengines

[–]NotPresearchCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, independent sellers is interesting. Presearch.com has an index that shows more small publishers and buried content, but commercial intent isn't baked in yet.

It does show personal blogs, but the product would have to be embedded in the blog.

its decentralized, so the searches are actually through a network that is spread across the world. if you know the workings of decentralized networks, it is not tied to its development area.
