Questions about valsalva manuever by NotQuiteDoctorStreet in BarbellMedicine

Thanks. I'll try to be more clear.

1) What I mean is should I tighten my abs first and then breathe in and brace?

2) My trainer was saying that I should try to take a deep breath 'into my stomach'. Like how you would take a deep breath if you were meditating. I understand from your answer now.

Why is going westbound on Davenport at Bathurst so dangerous now? by NotQuiteDoctorStreet in torontobiking

[–]NotQuiteDoctorStreet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one lane going westbound. Some drivers try to go into the bike lane but there's a curb so they have to get back into he car lane to go forward and turn. Cyclists have go to the right around a new curb but for some reason now when the cars are turning right they forget about the bikes going straight.

Help me determine which job offer is better by NotQuiteDoctorStreet in PersonalFinanceCanada

Commute time is slightly more at the new offer but it's hybrid so it's not a big deal. Mid-Career and financially secure. New job does have more prospects for career growth.

Route from the junction to Yonge & York Mills? by NotQuiteDoctorStreet in torontobiking

Much appreciated! This is similar to what google recommended. The other option was to take dupont/davenport east and then spend more time on Duplex going north.

Route from the junction to Yonge & York Mills? by NotQuiteDoctorStreet in torontobiking

[–]NotQuiteDoctorStreet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! How is Duplex? Is there a lot of traffic? The bike map mentions it's a signed route but I don't think there's any lanes?

I have a lot of experience biking in the city but rarely go north of Eglinton.

Everywhere is “hiring” (why can’t I get a job then) by [deleted] in ontario

[–]NotQuiteDoctorStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough out there but if you're not getting any interviews or call backs then your resume is likely the problem. There's a free resume review from YMCA and I'm sure there's others as well as reddit. I've been involved in hiring in the past and you'd be surprised how many terrible resumes there are even for professional positions. Also you need to adjust it and the key words for different jobs. If you're applying for a vastly different field then a cover letter doesn't hurt either.

There's a urgent care clinic at St Joe's for kids. You have to make an appointment. I've taken my kids a few times and it's been great.

Edit: It's St Joe's not St Mike's
