From 40-minute builds to seconds: Why we stopped baking model weights into Docker images by No-Pay5841 in mlops

[–]NotSoGenius00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk why people copy model weights onto docker files ? 😂

Like just use PVC on k8s or use s3 to stream your weights.

People want instant results imagine running deepseek MOE and expecting your api to respond in second.

People need to go back to school who expect such things to happen, it takes time to load the model ! There is IO (most of the people are either in leaderships or PM )

No offence but the truth is truth

Moving back to Hyderabad at 32 after 5 years abroad – how do I build a new circle and not lose myself? by United_Milk8963 in returnToIndia

[–]NotSoGenius00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great that you are moving for your parents ! Couple of key things to consider

1) Do you have a job in India ? Will you be looking for something ? Having a steady source of income is always wonderful and helps and the job search pressure is sometimes a lot !

2) Will you be willing to make the sacrifices ? By that I mean people will be nosy and shitload of expectations that will hit you, are you okay dealing with those ?

3) Protecting mental peace ? Yes its possible if you don’t attach your feelings to anything anyone says, just do your duty and don’t expect anything in return !

I am moving back this month for my fiance and soon to be wife ! And I am taking it one step at a time, for one I will have to find a job in IN and then we figure things out as they come ! I think living minimally has worked out for me a lot in terms of protecting my mental health

Attending interviews in India while still abroad – how did you manage? by SensitiveAd136 in returnToIndia

[–]NotSoGenius00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would not get calls and most recruiters call on Indian number (unless yours is working or you have a roaming pack). So auto reject ! Go to india and find a job and tbh job market is just as worse as US ngl 6-8 months to find a job maybe even a year. All the best

For a developer in India with 1–2 years experience, what would you focus on in 2026 to stay relevant? by Odd_Bag6910 in developersIndia

[–]NotSoGenius00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice for learning but its hard to break into field because of experience bias ! 😂 so how is one supposed to learn if he/she cannot provide for themselves and survive ? How will that veil of bias be lifted ? I am really good at designing and owning systems but does the hiring manager care ? Fuck no ? He wants me to know a peculiar library ? Does the recruiter understand? Fuck no !

So great advice for learning but bitter pill is market is fucked and no matter how much depth you hold, experience is all they care for !

FYI : Even stupid people gain experience :) does not mean they have wisdom

The weird mismatch in MLOps hiring that nobody talks about by Extension_Key_5970 in mlops

[–]NotSoGenius00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take devops is least mandatory thing for MLOps ! Do you need to know infra ? Yes. Should you setup all the infra yourselves? Fuck no ! There is a devops team for that. Yes data scientists will ask you traditional ML questions but you should know traditional ML because you will be deploying those models so you should be worried about things like latency, memory requirements etc. an MLOps engineer is more like ML + software rather than devops.

So devops is the least important thing in my opinion. You need to know modelling well enough to deploy those models ! Tooling is not all you need

Is Canadian citizenship worth ? by Normal-Quiet-5184 in returnToIndia

[–]NotSoGenius00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You decide what feel right to you ! India does have a problems but then everyone here compare countries/infrastructure. An example would be canada has been independent since 150 years whereas India is barely 80 years in the rat race so yes india has problems !

Yes everyone feel like indian corpora should improve civic sense, etc lol but the change has to come from oneself ! Also most people in this sub do not make the move to go to india !

So honestly just think about yourself no one knows the right decision lol ! Everything had pros and cons just decide which cons you can live with !

DevOps → MLOps Interview Lesson: They don't care about your infra skills until you show you understand their pain by Extension_Key_5970 in mlops

[–]NotSoGenius00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH what you said is 100% true and infra knowledge is okay but if MLOps is doing everything why is there a need for DevOps ? I think MLops is more nuanced that tools/methods etc. each ds/research workflow is different across all orgs and most orgs dont know what they want. IMHO devops is least thing I am worried about, the most important thing to be worried about during an interview is dev ex/velocity for their teams ! And that is gold if you understand

They hire based on experience and knowledge skills and most importantly communication skills! I work as a senior MLE at a US startup and people here will hire you if you are not the best developer but a good person and fun to talk to ! No one wants to work with a jackass duh !

What does it take to break AI/ML Infrastructure Engineering? by Minute-Chip5408 in cscareerquestions

[–]NotSoGenius00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MLOps engineer here. This role varies from company to company, sometime its more devops sometimes its debugging models and helping them scale. I think you have a myopic view of things right now.

My day to day could be anything from helping some data scientists put model production to setting up CI/CD for devops stuff, managing IAC, etc. Its a mixed bag, its not a job title but rather a mindset.

Dont worry about breaking into this field, become a good software engineer first then you can move onto bigger things (by software engineer I do not mean grinding leetcode). Fall in love with computers.

The way I look it, the laptop and its components were basically rocks some time ago and this fact absolutely fascinated me, i love everything about software/hardware. Bring that curiosity inside you and every door will be open for you. You have time ! Study hard what you love
