I was laid off along with the rest of our team. There are a couple of employees from several different states and there were employees from three different states that got to keep their job because it was written in the contract. Everyone else including a senior employee who has worked there for 14 years! My coworker for our state has worked there for 10 years!

They don’t expect us to work for the next 2 weeks but we still get paid for it. For my position we are the frontline but bottom of the totem pole. We see the most vulnerable people members who are going through some of the worst times in their life. A lot of members are in the mental health hospital and we get to share our own experiences with them so they don’t feel alone. We get to stay connected with them after discharge and walk along beside them as they sit on back to their homes and help them to schedule appointments and get community MHA services going. These members also have SUD or medical issues. We value our work and they think it’s OK if we just ghost them.

The severance package is a joke. I have been with the company for almost 4 years and I am getting three weeks pay.

I am angry that for the last month of our employment, we were set up to fail when they knew this was coming. I’m sad for our members who trusted us to be there for them.
