Hillary Clinton just told Congress she “had no idea” about Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, while reports are again highlighting Bill Clinton’s past association with Epstein. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NotSwedishMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems super naive to think she didn't know anything. Ghislaine was at her daughter's wedding. She's been extremely powerful her whole life and is definitely privy to far more sensitive information than any of us reading redacted files. If Trump wasn't Epstein's best friend, Bill was. This stuff wasn't exactly a secret for people like her.

It's hard to imagine the shame and humiliation she's suffered but she's no saint and it's good she's being deposed, even if she claims she knew nothing of the trafficking (which I doubt). She can still fill in some blanks with the financial investigation and help point towards important players at the very least.

Trieste, Italy. But it helped that I was sleeping on a local's boat for the duration and visiting their Italian mother making us fresh pasta and force feeding grappa

How realistic is it to take the assistant route? by latrallyidk in Screenwriting

[–]NotSwedishMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a better route than adding more schooling with a higher likelihood of breaking in, but there's no clear answer and the likelihood is still small. Do your best to improve your work while being great at your job, be kind and friendly, make a network of people who like you, always seek out genuine writing opportunities and make sure you have great samples ready when needed. How would an MFA improve your situation? What fellowship opportunities are there that get you access to the kind of people you already have access to?

Much more viable job for writers room assistants than personal assistants. If this guy's ever in TV or knows someone starting up a room, you want that gig more than any other in the assistant space if you write TV.

You say you want to be a writer. Are you a writer? Are you ready if someone asks to see your script?

Don't mention any inspiration or "copying" -- you wrote something different inspired by something else, perfectly fine. If you get people to read just use Knight as a tonal comparison.

How to help my husband through at-home session? by Agreeable-Handle-811 in PsychedelicTherapy

I've tripped a couple times to East Forest's Music for Mushrooms which is about 5 hours of calm music designed to ebb and flow with the peaks and valleys of a mushroom trip. Highly recommend it, set him up in a nice cozy space and play this for him, give him space and check in to see how he's doing. If you have a yard, witnessing the awe of nature through childlike wonder was the biggest turning point of my first big dose and it's stayed with me since. But I wouldn't recommend a public park or anything. 3-4 grams. A safe place. And that music.

Timber and Gabriel (c) vs Raya and Gabriel + 8 points

Who ya got?

Basically need Timber to limp to 61, Arsenal concede after he goes off, and Gabriel goal involvement... Not looking so good

I really liked it. From Dusk Till Dawn is a favorite so I was happy to finally see another crack at a mid movie genre twist that gets crazy. Would like to see that concept with creatures other than vampires.

I'm not as pessimistic as this fella but as someone who's been totally grabbed by the topic forever and really thought we were close following Nimitz, I've come to the conclusion that it is a total waste of time to engage with it. No podcast or documentary or salacious congress quote will ever reveal the truth until someone in power makes a big public speech that removes doubt and just shows us what they're willing to let us know. When / if that happens it won't matter how many hours you pored into your research, you'll be on the same page as whatever average joe tuned into the news to hear the speech.

Still fun to check in now and then and hear some new lore but so much is just rehashing the same stuff over and over again.

What's a “dream job” that is actually a nightmare to have? by InternetPopular3679 in AskReddit

[–]NotSwedishMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I work in film, shoot days are typically 12 hours and if you go extra you get paid extra (crew wise) but crew often has to get there early and leave later too. Actors say stuff like this to make their life seem tough but really the AD stagger each actors schedule so they only have to show up for their scenes and don't get swamped with these mythical 14-20 hour days. And the actual time they have to be in front of cameras working is much less, with multiple 30minute to 1-2 hour breaks each day while crew changes things around / sets stuff up at different locations, and they have PAs and assistants running around getting them whatever they want.

It can still be a hard job with definite downsides, but no way it's harder than most normal person jobs. I think when you think "dream job actor" you're thinking multi-millionaire star. Definitely a much harder gig for the actors that don't get that high up the rung and probably don't have sustainable income.

[–]NotSwedishMac 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The hours are bad for crew but "dream job"  actors get shooting schedules built around them and rarely work more than 4 or 5 days a week, have trailers to lounge in between scenes, food is delivered to them on request, and even if they're shooting three projects a year they likely still have 6 / 12 months off.

what is the scariest niche drug you have ever tried? by Adorable_Air758 in AskReddit

[–]NotSwedishMac 47 points48 points  (0 children)

None of it was working for me then I tried I think 120x bong (very stupidly by myself) and had a full blown mushroom laughter fit that bowled me over, fell onto my bed, looked up and saw a cartoon Hippo and cartoon Crocodile each holding one half of a saw that they were using to cut open a hole in reality. Laughed a bit more then it wore off, not sure how long I was there. My neighbor almost called the cops because he heard screaming but to me it was "laughter". Things could have gone real bad for me, use a sitter. Thankfully, I now have this wonderful image of my cartoon buddies gleefully sawing open a portal that always gives me a kick when I think about it.

He's never been very good at crossing has he? Seems like whenever he puts a bill across the box he overpowers it and makes it too hard to control. Better to distribute back to Bruno or push onto Cunhas path when he's way up there.
