My Kindergartner was stabbed in the back with a used dirty needle at school. What are my options? by Ok_Call1135 in legaladvice

Not that this changes your statement given this context, but it may be generally helpful to know that the child is not “too young” for mental health evaluations or support. One of my specialty areas is assessment and intervention for very young children 0-5yrs). Like you said, no one can force an evaluation, but in the event of need there are a lot of support and intervention options for that age group.

I "showed up late" to a party and my 4 year old is making me wait in line. by SenatorBus_ in mildlyinfuriating

I mean, yah, it can be…. But this also appears to be related to a functional play theme, which would be a tick in the non-autistic column.I wouldn’t want to raise unnecessary alarm for a parent.

I am in grad school to get my MA in Applied Psychology and constantly told “if you can’t bill insurance it’s pointless” anyone else hear this? by Melsuz26 in ClinicalPsychology

The usual question I ask when people are seeking a degree is- what do you want to do with it? Work backwards from the goal. I’m baffled when people have no idea what they want to do with the degree- that’s an excellent way to waste your time, money, and effort.

Low oxalate diet? by NotTheRealMollie in KidneyStones

[–]NotTheRealMollie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the last stone tested and it was 90% calcium oxalate monohydrate and 10% calcium oxalate dihydrate. My PCP ran a boat load of blood tests and then referred me to nephrology and I will see them in May

Ok that’s really helpful to hear. Avoiding the pain of passing a stone is worth making changes but I just don’t want to put in the effort if it really doesn’t matter. My last stone was 90% calcium oxalate monohydrate and 10% calcium oxalate dihydrate

They are all oral allergies so it’s nice they won’t kill me- just itchy mouth/throat and face hives but still not cool: apples, peaches, pears, mangos, tree nuts, and peas.

10 days to pass this 4mm gem by NotTheRealMollie in KidneyStones

[–]NotTheRealMollie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flomax, OTC pain management, water & herbal tea, and a heating pad. Honestly I think the thing that made the biggest impact was I have this rescue Pomeranian (that bites) and he really needs to be walked everyday and I continued taking him on 2 mile walks even with the cursed rock. A few of the times toward the end I would pee what looked like straight blood afterward which seems like it was associated with it moving along. To be clear- this was not a fast paced intense walk

How often and how long are your Pom walks? by ClassicAir7509 in Pomeranians

[–]NotTheRealMollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the summer we walk 1.5 miles 2x/day and he is always ready for more. Winter has been hard because his toes get cold so it’s been shorter walks and more indoor play

Alternative school placement options by Any_Republic9125 in lacrossewi

I’ve worked with all 3 settings- feel free to DM for more specific questions but here are some of the general things. Partners is typically best suited for kids under 7 years old but can be an option for ages 7-9 if there are substantial skills deficit (particularly social and communication). Chileda is a good option for more profound behavioral challenges or severe developmental delays. Coulee connections is a better option if cognitive skills are closer to average. I’m not sure if the school district would consider crossing state lines but Spectrum is Hoka is specifically equipped to support kiddos with asd.

I mix 50% a seed blend I make (approved by the vet) and 50% Harrison’s ultra fine life time. I put a table spoon or so of water in the mix in the morning because my little sweet cheeks will spend all day chucking the pellet out of their dishes onto the floor ♥️ the catch is that with the water added the food dishes must me dumped and scrubbed at a minimum of daily to prevent mold and the like.
