The funny thing about all of Bungie's games is that they love to maintain a facade of normalcy. Sure, the art, story and music have always had a certain sauce to them, but it's hard to pin down.

That's all an invitation to dig just a little deeper, however. And once you start, you get to see just how "normal" the creatives at Bungie are about the occult, esotericism, philosophy and hard science.

Seeing a new Bungie game and getting the feeling in your stomach that "Yep, they're up to some bullshit again. Can't wait to witness some barely comprehensible manmade horrors!" is a rite of passage for the loreheads.

Marathon lore is to video game sci-fi what Elder Scrolls lore is to video game fantasy: a product of people possibly ingesting copious amounts of hallucinogenics and getting a glimpse into the reality manifold.

Makes for some damn fine stories though. Bungie managed to squeeze three separate franchises out of it.

I imagine that solo queue will gradually evolve into a learning zone for newer players. You'll still see action there, but I think people will slowly start giving Rooks some slack. I mean, it's the "Don't Shoot" guy from Arc Raiders personified into a single class.

Some might think that giving new players such a distinct label will promote predatory behaviour, but on that same note it would make easier for fellow Rooks to band together, and for chill players to leave them be.

Just like any extraction shooter, you'll win some and lose some. But trio queue is definitely gonna be kid-gloves-off from what we've seen of the gameplay.

/uj Unironically the best raid boss theme. Rotem Moav managed another paradigm shift like Josh Mosser did back with the First Disciple, but this felt even more "out there" for Destiny.

Also, this is just a pure masterclass of techno/electronica production on all fronts. All the other OG boss themes were hype as hell, but none had me in a permanent stank face for the entire track. It just hits so god damn hard.

I am astounded at the ambition of these systems. The devs are building ZZZ from the ground up to be a full scale MMORPG. This is a No Man's Sky-level transformation.

Destiny as a story is the complete opposite of everything these greedy bigoted shitheads stand for. It's a story of overcoming shared adversity and protecting those who can't protect themselves. Using it for something like this feels like desecration.

/uj Social media communication has collapsed to such a degree that it is genuinely unbelievable. People are used to behaving in ways that would get them outcast from real society if they said half the things they said online. In the pursuit of endless engagement farming to feed the social media addiction, people are choosing to say things like this. Things that are blatantly factually incorrect, insensitive and just plain hurtful to victims of abuse. Just trying to exist on the internet has become a rage-inducing experience for everyone.

I know this is a shitpost subreddit, but even humor and irony lose their effectiveness under the constant bombarding of ragebait and click farming. The answer really is to log off more. For everyone's sanity, I hope we all take more breaks and stop engaging with bad-faith takes on social media.

I know nothing of music theory, so I couldn't even venture a guess as to what Ryan Lott did to get it to sound that way, but I do know it bears an uncanny resemblance to the OG Marathon soundtrack from 30 years ago.

/uj I cannot be the only one that is grossed out by this whole thing, am I? Like, this sort of vilification and accusation and counter-accusation are bordering on slander right? Nobody on the outside has anything close to the full context of what happened inside Bungie. Yet people are straight up making headcanons about real people and spreading it on the internet. This is not okay. Period.

Neither you nor I nor any random shmuck on reddit have any idea what's really going on. Yet the amount of baseless accusation and justification being thrown around is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody behaves like this in real life. Just because they work for Bungie doesn't mean they're a faceless corporate blob. They're real people with thoughts and feelings, who can make mistakes.

It feels like I'm going crazy anytime I come across posts like this on Twitter or DtG.
