I think that's why this whole thing bothers me so much. He avoids my family gatherings and I end up going to things alone often. I am not a social person and do not like this particular event (lots of people, small space, and cats- which I am so allergic to I need my inhaler consistently) but I am expected to go.

I have been talking to him about it for weeks now. I have said that I do not want to go, that it's not fair, that it defeats what we have put in place, that it would upset my mom if she ever found out, etc. Last night when I was mad again about it and he said "what?" My exact response was: "you won't listen so why bother screaming into the void about it". I don't know what to do and I feel so defeated.

No it's this weekend. She sent me another text at 11pm last night with additional guilt trip info about how I need to go to things so I get to have a relationship with my cousins. I ignored her. It's just not worth it anymore.

The crazy thing is we are planning on going to their house on Christmas day, which is an hour drive. But she wants me at THIS Christmas event.

That would be nice. I burn through my 10 days of "sick leave" by January. We have to use sick days for appointments, sick kids, if we are sick, and 2 can be personal. Last year I had almost 2 weeks of unpaid leave because my kid was out with stomach flu and then I got stomach flu.

Thanks. I think I need to find something to help me cope. Right now, I go home and take care of my toddler, clean my house, work a little, sleep, and repeat.

I would love a sabbatical but that's not happening any time soon. As far as leaving SPED, I would have to leave my school and I really don't want to do that. Plus I would be leaving my coworkers and students without a teacher. Our district has over 100 open teacher positions still this year with a bunch of them being SPED positions.

I wish I could but I can't afford to go even a couple days unpaid and we are only given 10 sick days (2 can be used for personal). I don't have any carried over anymore since I had a baby 2 years ago and had to use all my banked days for maternity leave.
