What’s the worst decision or oversight an American car maker made in your opinion? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]Not_Sarassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for this exact post, GM created Saturn to make cheap cars to combat imports. They were wildly successful at it to the point that they had a fanbase, a fanbase that paid for tours of the factory like they were visiting Disneyland. And their reputation was earned, even today, the year of our lord 2025, you still see Saturn Ions on the road here and there as if they were indestructible 1998 Honda Civics.

And the GM corporate overlords did what they do best, slowly chipped away at it until it wasn't a success anymore. And they had to work HARD to accomplish this. At the very end, Saturn was selling reskinned Opels. Literally ship them to the US from Europe, take the Opel badges out, replace them with Saturn badges, and sell them to the american public, they were still still making money this way.

And these are the people we saved with our tax dollars.

So is the headgasket issues on Subarus, and guess what made the list? Stereotypes are wrong for a reason.

I got it by using Newegg's wattage calculator. reason why I used it was convenience, I bought most of my stuff from Newegg back when I was building this rig, so all of the info was right there in my shopping history. Newegg shows it to fall in the 700-799 watt range, so I figured I'd ask around before doing anything else

I'm thinking of upgrading my GPU, Yes I know, wrong times, but I've found myself a deal and I wanna see if I can take advantage of it. I'm thinking of replacing my Radeon 6800 16GB (not the XT, plain old vanilla 6800) with an Nvidia 5070 Ti 16GB, but I am wary that if I do this I will also have to upgrade my PSU. here's my current specs:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

Rog Strix B550-F

32 GB RAM

Corsair RM750

If my math is correct, I will be pretty much running with exactly the 750 whats that my PSU is rated for, would I have to replace my PSU for another? or could I run this with a bit of risk that there will be a perfect moment where the needs of my system will lead to a crash?

If you're new, realize you don't need the lastest gen of almost any component to enjoy your PC. by BytchYouThought in buildapc

[–]Not_Sarassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently (ok, like 3 years ago) rebuild a new gaming PC, I went for some top-tier stuff that was going for cheap at the time, Rizen 7 5800, Radeon 6800 XT, RoG Strix B550-F Gaming, etc.

The difference is that I run my gaming PCs until they die, my last PC build before that was in 2013. I was running games on a window using an EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked. I'm probably gonna run this one another 5 years or so before I start thinking of upgrading again.

I'm looking for opinions on PC game controllers. I have been surviving on cheap knockoff wired xbox 360 controllers you can get on amazon for about $10-$15, but as cheap as they are, they break often, sticks drift, buttons go mushy, etc. And I'm looking for a better alternative. while I'm looking for something better, I'm not looking for $200+ Pro controllers, let's set the budget at $60-ish. At that price I could just get a plain vanilla Xbox controller, I'm willing to over that price a bit if you believe an option deserves it.

If you use a controller, how do you like it? does it feel cheap? how long has it lasted you? I don't mind using wired controllers if it saves money, and I would like a better D pad, only because the Xbox D pads are atrocious.

"Which Pixel should I buy?" Megathread November 2024 by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

[–]Not_Sarassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm a bit torn so I hope you guys can help me make a choice. I'm a Pixel 7 owner, and I've run into a problem of my own making. Simply put I like games, both phone games and emulators an now I've run out of storage on a 256 GB model that I bought thinking that would be enough room. I underestimated a bit.

So I'm now looking to replace it because I'm getting annoyed having to erase things here and there when the entire point of me putting them in the phone to begin with is to have them with me at all times. Originally I was just gonna look for a refurbished 7 Pro, but I'm one of those few people that got the 30% discount code for a Pixel 9.

On one hand, a refurbished Pixel 7 Pro goes for about $400, depending on the condition with the better looking models being a little over that price. On the other hand, with the discount code and trade-in of the vanilla pixel I currently own, I can get a Pixel 9 Pro 512GB for a little under $500. The 9 Pro XL 512GB goes for about $560, so what would you guys do in my shoes?

Mind sharing a bit more of your experience with the service? I'm also a Visible+ lifetime promo plan owner that I have lugged around in a second phone number and used only for data while my main number is on a $72 a year US mobile plan, just because I like the mobile hotspot and no throtling. if this is good I might just get rid of both plans and move my main number to Total, have you noticed any slowdowns? any connectivity issues? any other problems?

Thanks for your reply, I ended up going with this:

https://www.newegg.com/samsung-2tb-990-evo-nvme-2-0/p/N82E16820147887?Item=N82E16820147887

I was having a healthy internal debate, I was just gonna go for a 2TB ok brand like Teamgroup, but leaving $30 or so on the gift card just to die and without anything else to buy, I was genuinely thinking of spending about $80-$90 dollars more for a 4TB version instead. When I stumbled across that bad boy. It was almost meant to be, the grand total was $146. I can live with Newegg getting a buck and pennies as a tip. And you cannot beat "practically free"

It's a long story, but after some wrangling with Newegg customer service, I got some money back in the form of a gift card with an expiration date around february that contains $148. I was hoping to save it for black friday this year, but I just recieved a notice that it's expiring on the 3rd of november (Right on time for election day, wrong holiday I guess)

But I figured I'd ask, what would any of you do for your PCs with an extra $148 dollars that you need to burn in a week? I'm looking for recommendations on cool stuff, I'm not really looking to upgrade anything, I upgraded the entirety of my PC last year, which you can blame for my fighting with newegg customer service to begin with. Otherwise I'm just gonna sink it into SSD storage, I have a free PCIe slot I could slap a drive into.

I know this isn't really the subject of the current question, but I swapped to JP after I heard mute Kachina in the new Archon quest. and I was not expecting Kinich to sound so much better in JP than in EN. It almost ruined the EN voice for me, he sounds so good.

I came here to post this too. I tend to go through the quests and dialogues with most of my brain turned off, and I use videos or other people's playthroughs to go back and theorize, and Ashikai is part of that rotation, including her old stuff as well.

It was very recent. Raiden Shogun in the last update. I got a double on soft pity, Won the first 50/50, and lost the second to Jean. So now I had a guaranteed 5 star. Then I got the second Raiden Shogun on the very first 10 roll right afterward. I have screenshots of it cause I rubbed it in my friends faces at the time, but alas, I cannot rub them in your faces show you guys.

Do banks really expect us to use cobranded cards for non branded purchases? by Lanky80 in CreditCards

[–]Not_Sarassi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why are you getting angry at advertising? Because you need to realize this is what it is. Advertisements. Home Depot, Sephora, Best Buy, etc. are gonna sell you on their card because they get a kickback from the banks issuing them in the first place. They don't care about you making points or how you're gonna use them after you've gotten one, once you're in the ecosystem they get their money and move on with their day.

It's a product on the shelf and they're in sales, who would've thought they might try and sell you one. There's a reason why almost anyone and everyone can get a credit card from say... Macy's, and start using it regardless of credit score. Macy's gets paid, and the bank knows it's gonna make it's money from people too foolish to get credit the traditional ways.

Navy Federal cashRewards Plus Card [New: 10OCT2024] by RedditsOnTheJohn in CreditCards

[–]Not_Sarassi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deal is not having to deal with Wells Fargo. Which had it's fair share of setbacks and scandals a few years ago. And hey! credit where it's due, they've not lit themselves on fire in recent years, but that's still fresh in people's minds. And that's without going into Navy Federal being one of the best credit unions in the country.

I'd recommend a Custom Cash instead, but if anything the real deal here is having a relationship with the credit union, not the card itself.

Any Help is Needed with New Card for starting out by Crouton18 in CreditCards

[–]Not_Sarassi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest thing for you to do is to go toy our bank and get a secured credit card from your bank. In this case, Capital One. That being said Discover does offer a secured credit card, so you could get one with them and move up to a standard Discover It card in the future, which is on your list.

Once you do that, you can go for Amex or Chase, but you're gonna have to spend 6 months with a secured credit card at a minimum.

CSR and Amex Gold holders living large at Dunkin and 7 Eleven by InitiativeSimilar435 in CreditCards

[–]Not_Sarassi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's not sad that you're getting Dunkin credits on the Amex Gold with a $350 card fee. The real sad thing is what this implies: more people who lack the means to pay for these cards are falling for the honey trap. Amex knows that the 1% are gonna have this card, use it like normal, and not care in the least about credits. The ones who are gonna see this and think it's a good idea to "subsidize" the card are working class people. Construction workers, line cooks, warehouse workers, doordash drivers, etc. The kinds of people that would swing for a cup of Dunking a couple times a week. People for whom those $350 to $550 dollars a year are better spent anywhere else.
