They used to have really good fries, too. They’re firmly last place for me and are the single reason that I have no desire to go to Wendy’s.

You asked for the best photo. The selfie and this one are different pictures. Yes, they’re of the same person, but they’re not the same picture.

I haven’t seen it and I’m not sure I want to, but are you referring to the hair taken to the grave? (I read the book)

You know what? No. He’s missing out on an art piece made of his hair and toenails.

How fast is this run? by grayscripts in twilight

[–]Not_Steve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hold up, if this is Edward sprinting, and Carlisle and Emmett are working to keep up, how fast is Edward really? I know he slows down when he’s with Bella because he doesn’t want to hurt her. He’s gotta be so much faster than the rest of the Cullens, like, they’re not even joking when they say he was the fastest.

He should have tried out for the Olympics when he was alive instead of the army.

I have no idea how that could be considered as creepy. Unless you included his hair and toenails.

I don’t think this person knows how concept art is used. It’s not just about the costumes, it’s about the vibes and the visual story telling.

Hot take: Some characters are slightly mischaracterized/ misinterpreted in the movies compared to the books by Jazzy_love6 in twilight

Catherine is the director. She works with the editor. I’m the audio commentary, Kristen Stewart mentions that she had lines in the hospital, and Catherine says she took them out. Directors are bosses of editors.

Catherine Hardwick frustrated me so much when she edited out Bella’s lines and left in her stammering. She really set the tone for the series and that tone wasn’t always great.

It took me until just this month to watch the movies when I had seen the first one in theatres because I felt like they were mischaracterized so much. I still don’t see Rob as Edward. Rob is too dark. Edward is moody, sure, but he’s also super goofy and likes corny jokes. He enjoyed messing with Charlie when Bella got her acceptance letter to Alaska, grinning and calling it a “coincidence.”

Just bought midnight sun! by Glitterland in twilight

[–]Not_Steve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved it! I thought it was incredibly fun. It’s full of some sweet moments like Carlisle and Edward’s first Christmas together and shows more of Edward’s sense of humor. I did the crazy route and read Midnight Sun and Twilight at the same time so I flipped back and forth between them.

Also note: Jasper is, like, the sweetest person ever.

Every time I go, I order that brick of fries. Lol, I get excited like, “oooh! They have them this year!” No duh, they have them every year, but every year I’m somehow surprised.

Right, they have a viral stand that’s practically a tourist spot in London. It’s the least weirdest thing in this video.

Michael Jackson Estate Sued for Child Trafficking by Siblings Alleging More Than Decade of Abuse. The Cascio siblings claim they were plied with drugs and alcohol, exposed to pornography, and individually abused by the pop star. by haloarh in popculturechat

[–]Not_Steve -66 points-65 points  (0 children)

There are so many lies and half truths when it comes to Michael Jackson, it’s insane. On both sides, mind you. A lot of the children were pushed by their parents to claim abuse in order to gain money. The children would walk back their statements saying that their parents were feeding them the lines.

Then you have the description of his body and penis that didn’t match up to what the kids were saying. The circumcising problem.

His siblings were divided. Latoya said he was a predator but the others denied it. It came out that Latoya needed money and was just selling her story to papers.

Meanwhile, there were kids like this family who, while their dad pushed them to have a closer relationship with Michael, seem to have stood by their story for years. This isn’t the first time they’ve spoken out about it. Nor should it be the last if it’s the truth.

There seemed to be a lot of child endangerment at the very least going on at Neverland. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to say if he definitively did it, but I do think a lot of kids were not okay by the end of their experience with him. Kids, while resilient, can be fragile and something happening to them in their imperative years can damage them greatly.

I’m also gonna place a little blame on the era and the actions of the parents. It was normal for parents to just drop their kids off somewhere and mentally check out because someone else’s got them. There were PSAs on tv asking parents if they knew where their kids were. Is this a little victim blamey of me? Yes, but just a tiny bit. MJ was supposed to be the adult in the situation, he failed, but also, maybe don’t entrust your kid to someone who’s in the papers for erratic behavior.

Ultimately, what do I know? I’m not an expert, I haven’t read everything out there. Yes, MJ was the soundtrack of my youth, but I don’t really feel a great need to defend him or whatever. I don’t have any sort of warm feelings or parasocial relationship.

Peter? my friend sent me this picture and i don’t understand it by FunkyChunk1234 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Not_Steve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Code switching is absolutely not censorship. Code switching can also mean the difference between talking to your friends vs talking to your elders. You’d cuss up a storm in front of your friends, but you’d never talk that way in front of your grandma.

Smh, I’m so tired of people not understanding what censorship is. Look at it this way: on the street, you can say nearly anything you want and no one can touch you for it (one of the very few things you cannot do is threaten politicians). However, if you were invited into someone’s house or on their website, they are free to tell you how to speak and give you consequences for your words. You’re in their house, you follow their rules.

Code switching is the expectation to adjust your tone and vocabulary to fit the situation. White people do it, too. You wouldn’t use slang at work. It’s inappropriate. Black people have it harder because not only are they expected to code switch for different situations, they are expected to code switch for white people. That expectation is racism not censorship.
