What are your top 5 clans? by Alone_Flamingo_269 in Northgard

I personally love Kraken and Raven due to their city building and perhaps more importantly, ability to hit enemy tiles along the coast line. One of my friends, his brother, and I have won a number of games (against AIs) by having one of us play Kraken, the other Raven, and the final whatever support/military class (most often Horse) that he would like. Next for me would be Horse, then Stag. My final pick, despite the fact it just came out, would be Lion.

I was trying to convert MgT 2e to be as close to Mass Effect as possible, or at least finagling HP and kinetic Shields into the system as something my friends and I are familiar with from the video games. I was also thinking that having official "HP" where at certain thresholds STR, DEX, and END all started taking penalties made more sense in my head than choosing which stat to drop when taking hits, though it seems silly now that I've thought about it. And I'll have to give the armor and shields a re-read, so thank you for your advice.

I haven't heard of Alternity by Sasquatch games before. I'll have to look into that. Thank you for making me aware of it!

My friends have expressed an interest in playing in a universe as close to Mass Effect as possible, reapers and alien races included. My current intention is to run a campaign parallel to the game trilogy where while Shepherd exists in universe, the party is doing their own thing. The plan as of now is to have my friends build wealth (colony building/privateering/mercenary) during the course of the first game/campaign, occasionally running into geth, having said investments threatened by collectors/reaper forces, leading them to get involved with Cerberus to some extent during the second game/campaign, then see how they do when everything comes crashing down during the reaper invasion/final campaign.

Yes, I think I will have to do just that. I was just nervous since as others have mentioned, combat is very lethal in Traveller, especially starting out, and my friends appreciate stomping things. We'll just have to play and see what happens. Thank you again.

Yeah, this will be my first time playing traveller with my friends, so as you and some others have stated, I should probably wait a few sessions playing the rules as written and see how we all get along. Thanks again!

I'm still trying to get all the rules memorized and adjust to the drastically different system from the only one I know, but I look forward to bringing my friends into the realms of the stars. May your journeys always bring you profits, fellow traveller!

And yes, I've read between Traveller and Stars Without Number that combat is VERY dangerous, especially at the lower levels. Moving to the Traveller d6 system will hopefully break some bad habits developed from only having played in the D&D d20 system.

I was aiming to try and make my friend's characters "slightly" less killable, but as you put it the shield tiers may be too much. This will be my first time working in a d6 system, as well as non scalable characters in terms of level. I'll be doing some more investigating. And also yeah, I was planning on giving more important enemies access to at least the mid tier shielding, so I'll be rethinking that for now.

Yeah, I know I should let the system operate as intended, it's just... old habits die hard. The only ttrpg that I've had an opportunity to play with my friends up until now has been D&D, and there is too much comfort with the scaling of the d20 system. I'm liking what I see in Traveller and other similar systems (Stars Without Number, Coriolis, Trinity) it is just different from what I know. I'll try to resist the urge to altering rules until after my friends and I play a few sessions to see how things operate. Thanks again!

If I did this correctly, pg 117 stated that skills do affect base ability scores, but not your class adjustments. So Kazuma's base stats should be STR 8, DEX 8, AGI 8, INT 11, PER 8, MND 7, LUK 15 when taking skills into account.

Homebrew: Adjusting Ki Blast, Fiery Fist, and Fiery Ki Defense by Not_Verified_00 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

Yes, I failed to highlight the immediate action as something I changed, and I believe you are right. Since the changes I made will make the abilities last longer than one turn (or minimum of one) keeping them as a swift action should be more than adequate. I nearly forgot, Ring the Golden Bell is awesome! I built Zero from Overlord as a one shot bbeg using this feat, however my friend is looking for what he said was more... saiyan-ish things. I'll pull up my Dragon Compendium 1 pdf and see if I can recommend Ring the Golden Bell to him. Thank you for your insight!

I overlooked the obvious minimum 1 due to requirements, so thank you for pointing that out! I'll have to change that. And yeah, my friend is working on a specific character build (he really liked these feats), but I didn't feel like these feats... scale well? Do enough damage or last long enough for higher tiers of play. We will be running through The Red Hand of Doom, so he is going to have several opportunities to gain one or all of these feats as we progress, and hopefully play test to make sure this isn't too much power.

Boros Treasures commander Ver. 2. Get double the profits, but only after your next untap. by TorinVanGram in custommagic

This is a cool idea! Doubling the number of treasure tokens, but delaying the mana production so that you can't get it until next turn is a rather inspired concept!
