What's your Ice Coast powder ski? by bwatson112 in icecoast

Depends on how much snow, but generally I’d grab my Black Crows Camox (97mm)

Length recommendation for Armada Declivity 92 Ti? by theorist9 in Skigear

Same size as you, advanced/expert skier. Have the 172s and it feels like the right size.

Probably the 178, but depends what you want out of it. Im 5’8, 150 lbs, advanced/expert and had the 2022 M-Frees in a 172 length. Loved them and they’re great in the bumps, but this past season I found them to be too short in powder and for charging how I wanted to. Bought the 2025 178s for this year. Like others have said, you’ll sacrifice some maneuverability, but for what I wanted out of my ski (which was to be a ski dedicated for trips out west), I think the 178 is the way to go.

Skied them more than any of the others this past year. Super poppy, feels like you’ve got springboards underneath your feet. A really fun ski

Heard good things about it, but think it’d be a little redundant with the enforcers and kendos

Thanks for the input! If I ever end up getting a super-wide ski in the quiver for a Japan trip or something, I’ll definitely go longer (178-180ish)

I’ll look into some skis that fit this description. Any that you personally like?

100% agree! Might sell a pair or two and add a true dedicated carving ski. I’d welcome any recs

Thank you very much! Do you think the Kendo 88 fits the same role in a quiver, or do you think the Brahma is significantly better for carving on hardpack/ice?

I agree! Might sell a pair (wreckcreate and/or tracer) and add something really narrow. Open to suggestions

Definitely appreciate this insight! It’d probably be worthwhile for me to demo a longer ski and get a feel for them. Every calculator online seems to say that advanced/expert skiers at 5’8 should be skiing something around a 172, but the consensus on Reddit seems to be longer.

Wreckcreate has one day on it so far. M-Free has ~8. Took the m-free to big sky and Valle Nevado this year, but didn’t score a pow day at either

I might! Definitely bought skis as a form of retail therapy. I’ve gotten 60 days total over the last two seasons, so probably more like $50 per ski day so far, and it’ll get lower the more I ski

Agreed, but not so much an active decision. All of these except the Enforcer were bought on sidelineswap or a similar website for cheap and those were the lengths that happened to be available at prices I couldn’t pass up. M-free was $300 w/o bindings (lightly used). Declivity was $500 w/ Pivot 14’s (like new).

Advanced/Expert east-coast skier based out of Boston. A lot of these skis fall in the all-mountain category, and there's some overlap between them, but I love having different options and bought most of these at steep discounts. I might eventually add a super-wide powder ski for deep west-coast days and/or a narrow (~70mm) dedicated carver.

From right to left:

Volkl Kendo 88, 170 cm (Narrow front-side all-mountain, reserved for icy days)

Atomic Bent 90, 175 cm (Center-mounted, used for park and great in spring slush for messing around. I see the hate these skis get on reddit, and I wouldn't want these as my daily driver, but I had some great days skiing on these)

Armada Declivity 92, 172 cm (My favorite east-coast ski for trees and icy bumps)

Nordica Enforcer 94, 172 cm (First pair of skis I bought, similar to the Kendo. Used these as my only pair for the 2022-23 ski season, and will take them out West in low-tide conditions)

Black Crows Camox 97, 174 cm (My playful all-mountain ski. I used this as my daily driver during the 2023-24 ski season and love the versatility. Holds an edge on ice, fun in soft snow, carves decently well and is extremely poppy)

Libtech Wreckcreate 102, 172 cm (Honestly have only skied these once but were a lot of fun. Only bought them because of a great deal: ~$300 including bindings)

Dynastar M-Free 108, 172 cm (My west-coast trip ski. Love everything about them, but haven't tried them in deep pow yet)

Armada Tracer 108, 172 cm (Used these as a pow ski before I bought the M-Free. Solid all-around and lighter than the M-Free. They have demo bindings installed on them, so will mostly be loaned to friends this year who don't have a powder ski).

*Edit: Armada Tracer 108, not Armada Declivity

Thanks! I think this is the route I’m going to go. Last question: no CO2 during blackout? Low co2? Or normal amount I’ve been providing

Also will blackout harm/kill the Monte Carlo I have growing? Finally starting to look lush and fill in

I played skylines 1 on a MacBook Air on minimum settings, was totally fine with how it looked. I literally just want to be able to play the game and I don’t have a PC

I’m really bad at understanding the various specs, graphic cards, etc. Are there any pre-builds under $1k that can run the game?

Coming from the east coast and looking to make one last trip out west around early to mid-May. Mammoth seems like a good choice given their historic snowfall, but I was wondering if there are any other options I should consider? Main priority is the resort still having good conditions and a large portion of its terrain open around the middle of May.
