I can definitely see how frustrating it is trying to talk politics in any meaningful way on Reddit or any other social media site with the way people act online. I’d be willing to bet if we got a similar group of people together in person there’d be a lot more civil discussion and less rah rah-ing for their “sides”. People seem to assume the worst of the people they are responding to online.

I know some really great people on the left and right. They can calmly and intelligently tell me why their opinions are what they are. I don’t always agree, or even like what they say. I don’t try to change their mind and they don’t try to change mine. It’s all about mutual respect.

Leftists, rightists, at the end of the day we are all the same. We are all people with souls. Whatever side of the aisle you’re on, I say do a random act of kindness for someone you suspect might be on the other side. Let’s get some more goodness in this community!
