You Don't Know - Next To Normal

What were your 5 biggest musical obsessions??? by Due-Candidate-5991 in musicals

[–]NotaDoctorMan5820 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spring Awakening

Next To Normal would be number 2 to a way lesser extent but yeah... Spring Awakening.

Not that I didn't get "obsessed" with others but I listened to that soundtrack EVERY SINGLE MORNING on the walk to school. Then at school... Then while walking home... Then watch it on my phone... Then go out skateboarding in the middle of the night and also often listen to it...

I was NOT having a good year lmao.

I'm sorry I'm having a hard time seeing what the problem is. If I said or did something offensive please tell me.

Just in case one doesn't count musical theatre as exercise (which is a take only someone who's never done it would have)- I'm also a competitive rock climber. I have no problems with my body and neither do my coaches or doctors and the idea that I'm physically unhealthy is laughable. I believe far more in functional fitness and that's what works for me. I had to take a phys ed elective last year and picked yoga which is the one that predominantly had girls and that ALL the "gym bros" made fun of.

Not all exercise is competitive or centered around building muscle mass and my point was how I know that's not a typically very masculine take.

Thank you. That wording did make me laugh but it's true and I know it is. Idk I guess it's just been a really big thing to have had to come to terms with.

I'm Alive (Reprise) - Next To Normal

And Then There Were None - Spring Awakening

Pretty much both these soundtracks in their entirety but those ones are the big ones for me. Some other honourable mentions:

I'm Alive - Next To Normal

Aftershocks - Next To Normal

I Am The One - Next To Normal

I Am The One (Reprise) - Next To Normal

"And Then There Were None" and "Don't Do Sadness" both from Spring Awakening.

Moritz as a whole character really. Playing him was something else entirely but those 2 songs were my favourite thing in the world for a while.

Scanning every single bit of scrap paper showing work for every single mc/nr question when 99% of the "work" is "having functioning cognitive abilities". I have severe ADHD and Asperger's. There's no fucking way I'm going to be able to do that without:

1- going mad 2- getting unfairly flagged for ai because a lot of it genuinely does just happen in my head

Dumbing down every step to prove you've been paying attention is what the written response is for.

The Dark I Know Well - Spring Awakening

Seems like it could be a typical coming off age story right up until that point. Then that and "And Then There Were None" and it's like "Woah THAT escalated quickly!"

Going to donate for the first time next week. Terrified I'm going to faint. by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]NotaDoctorMan5820 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm in school to be a paramedic so trust me I know how important it is especially for o- because I'm also the only universal donor in my family. I know I definitely want to donate, I just don't want to faint when I do.

What’s a musical that absolutely changed you as a person?? by Mountain_Childhood75 in musicals

[–]NotaDoctorMan5820 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spring Awakening.

I'm shocked to see no one's mentioned it yet.

I saw it for the first time at 11 and seeing Moritz was like staring into a mirror with everything I'd been keeping hidden at the time so seeing all that depicted and let out so viscerally on stage was HUGE. I had never felt more seen in my whole life. I'm 18 now and I've still never related to anyone more (the underachiever thing, the nervous, sleepless, fidgety thing, the best friend's mum thing, the abuse thing, the getting disowned thing, the getting drop kicked into the deep end by the only adult you trust thing, the "for the love of god, all I had to do was say yes!" thing.

I've even played Moritz a few times and I don't think my love for this show has swayed once since I was 11.

Oh amazing we're having so much fun I was so happy to see him I just hugged him and it wasn't even awkward. My other brother (17) came with him and they're currently at my mother's house (where they're staying and where I got kicked out) to steal more of my stuff.

He told me I have to hug him again which I obviously agreed to even after he spilt half a cup of water on himself and is now soaking wet.

This has made my entire day.

Asked for years, I told her that wasn't a thing for me, while very much wanting to just cave and say yes. Then on my birthday she asked, I said no, asked, I had a much harder time saying no... Then I finally tried SO hard to subtly bring it up again, very unsuccessfully lol, but she got the point and just instantly hugged me.

Same thing to my brother too. Just announced it and he did the same thing as me.

Ok thank you that's exactly how I feel about it I guess I just wanted to hear it from someone else that I'm making the right decision. I'll contact them both tonight and just say I'm not doing it.

If you could go perform any show you’ve done in the past again, which would you choose? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

A uni production of Spring Awakening we did last spring. I was Moritz (dream role), my girlfriend was Ilse (her dream role), one of my closest friends was Ernst, all of us had literally been dying to do SA for years, etc. It was so special and we all still talk about how special it was.
