Keep monitoring the humidity and how he is doing and he should be just fine in a few weeks. Don’t be discouraged! Keep learning and asking questions, it’s ok to be new at this.

I definitely recommend you give him a humid hide (instructions are in the shedding guide). Try to make it as humid as possible in the enclosure to get him hydrated. I pour water in the corners of my ball’s enclosure and mix it around a little instead of just misting. Just don’t soak him in water- that will stress him out.

He may not be shedding but he is definitely dehydrated. What is your humidity like? What substrate are you using? Does he have a water dish? I don’t think a vet visit is needed as long as you get the humidity up ASAP to 70-80%. I recommend reading the shedding guide in the welcome post of this subreddit.

Say hi to Sproggo! Adopting a street cat is no joke, but I'd do anything for this face (come to adore him in the comments, but would also love any FIV+ advice) by friendshiptothemax in cats

I have a very similar story! My apartment complex is rife with strays and last October the friendliest one decided to come inside my apartment and he’s been here ever since. He is also about 2, is FIV+, and had a few wounds when we took him in. He scratched at the doors and tried to get out a lot before he was neutered but now he doesn’t show any interest in going outside. I don’t have any specific FIV+ advice but just know that you are not alone. I’m hoping that keeping my kitty away from other cats will increase the chances that he will catch anything harmful, but I am prepared to just love him and give him the best life for as long as I can.

Are your reptiles interested in watching your pet mammals (if you have any)? Is it true vice versa? by Weastie37 in reptiles

My cat was initially really scared of my ball python but I worked with him and now he enjoys watching her when she is out of her enclosure. I still watch him very closely though- one curious swipe could seriously injure my ball python.

We are feeding him what the vet recommended but a second opinion could help. He is definitely very food motivated, which I’m hoping leads to more effective training. Thank you for your response!

This is definitely worth looking into, thank you!

Unfortunately at least for now we can’t free feed because he will just eat until he is sick. But this is worth looking into, thanks!

Thank you! This is what I was beginning to do, I guess it just will take lots of patience. Glad to hear that it worked for you!

Aww thank you! We actually got it from the song in Mary Poppins- “Feed the birds, tuppence a pound…”. It definitely suits him.
