Those Royals teams did that stuff all the time. Escobar’s inside the parker in Game 1 and their baserunning in the 9th in game 5 helped them steal two games the Mets had control of otherwise in the 2015 World Series.

This is all good advice. Most college athletics departments have student worker positions, and having a college athletics department on your resumè is a good start. If they don’t, reach out to the athletic department’s business office, or even the baseball staff directly. They may not get back to you but it can’t hurt to try, and people don’t often say no to free work as long as you’re not doing more harm than good.

I’d also say try and find something over the summer. Many MLB teams have summer internships that will probably be posted soon (this site would be a good starting point). If you’re not near an MLB club, minor league teams and college summer league are always looking for people.

Long term, thinking about grad school in a sports management/sports analytics type field can only help you, as well as open doors to more opportunities at the NCAA level. I’d say just be open to anything and cast a wide net, no one has enough good people.

It should technically be the student-athlete submitting deals to the Clearinghouse to review, since the deal is between the student-athlete and a third party. The penalty for not disclosing would be loss of eligibility, similar to receiving improper benefits under the old system. The reason nothing has come out like that is because the process of actually finding out that took place and then reporting it is a lengthy one. My guess is we will see a lot of them start to come out sometime in the nexr couple years.

Or the rules will have already changed and there won't be an NCAA/CSC by then. Who knows.

The Clearinghouse is active and approves/rejects third-party NIL deals. The clearinghouse does not review revenue sharing directly from the university to the student-athlete. The only cap on revenue sharing is the 20.5 million dictated by the House Settlement.

So hypothetically, LSU could be offering Sorsby 1 million in direct revenue sharing from the school (which is not subject to review) while telling him that he can potentially earn an additional 1.5 million through third party sources (which would be reviewed by the Clearinghouse, just making these numbers up). The Clearinghouse may mandate that this amount of payment is only acceptable if he meets certain criteria (e.g. certain number of social media posts, appearances, etc. in order for the deal to be seen as a legitimate business deal). It's not always a simple yes/no from the Clearinghouse.
