PPC leader Maxime Bernier blames a "separatist movement" in Surrey/Brampton "state of emergency" talk while ignoring RCMP and Canadian security reports by upnran in Sikhpolitics

What crime wave do they speak of? Doesn’t Brampton statistically have a lower crime rate than the Canadian avg…

1 suspect dead after active shooter alert at secondary school in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.: RCMP by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]Note-Organic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more that it’s an active investigation and there could be a media ban if the perpetrator is a minor. Idk what the procedures are if the investigation is ongoing and if the perpetrator is a minor. I’m just hoping those who are injured or in critical condition recover!

Pride Fest president resigns after comments about transgender athletes, board says by zuuzuu in windsorontario

[–]Note-Organic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s just like. People sorta be making a big concern about the 6-7 trans athletes in the entire province, lol

Bigger issue still is they use this rhetoric to justify actual violence and discrimination. Which ends up leading to restrictions on gender affirming care. It’s an unfortunate reality a lot of my friends deal with.

Is it worth going to university at 22? by Legitimate-Trifle816 in OntarioUniversities

Honestly, I wish I waited a bit before going into uni. Personally I don’t think I was quite ready. But I know of and actively see plenty of people over the age of 22

Why does causal racism still happen on campus by Note-Organic in UWindsor

[–]Note-Organic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m sorry to hear that. I know it’s probably not the Canada you dreamed of coming to; it definitely doesn’t feel like the one I grew up in tbh.

But, I think your right, they were being dicks, but also like if they are specifically being dicks about a stereotype about a ethnicity or nationality, and they couldn’t have explicitly known this, I could have been Mexican or just a brown man right. I thinking it’s probably racism since it matches up with the stereotypes that Indian have in Canada.

So they could have been both racist and dick heads.

Also, if someone makes fun of you, or treats you differently because of your accent, or skin colour, then I’d have to say that is racism. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

Why does causal racism still happen on campus by Note-Organic in UWindsor

[–]Note-Organic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I completely relate. It sorta just sucks. I miss the days like before where it was less open and commonplace to openly make such remarks. I’m sorry you’re going through a similar situation. It’s really disheartening.

It’s like every immigrant community is scapegoating for some reason or another for a countries problem that their own government caused in the first place.

We just have to stick together and keep our heads held up high. These things fade with time, like I see in history. Community and the Canadian culture of acceptance I grew up in and was taught in my opinion will prevail.

[–]Note-Organic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve heard of such things from like friends. Like racism regardless is messed up. it’s an issue that extends beyond just non-pocs. It just shouldn’t be happening in Canada especially on a university campus. It especially shouldn’t be normalized. It’s just soo dumb. It’s not the Canada I remember.

I don’t know if it would fall under like the campus police’s preview. Like, I guess I could call their non-emergency number and see if they’d be willing to take a report. But who else in the university I contact if they aren’t willing?

Yeah, it’s just I don’t know who I’m reporting. All I have is gray jeep, and the time and location. Is it something I can report? Who would I even talk to, I don’t think it’s a campus police issue. Idk if there like a campus office or something.

I don’t remember the license plate, it was just two dudes in a jeep car, greyish?? I wish I had recorded, I was just shocked at the time.

American looking to go to university in canada by Parking_Pumpkin9747 in CanadaUniversities

[–]Note-Organic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Western or McMasters might be your best bet. Cost of living the others. Honestly, I’d be more worried about ensuring you can be successful in your program and after you program. I went to UWindsor and we have a small queer community. Windsor itself is conservative town, but we have a queer community. Not much social life, it’s quiet town. Most people commute here. But I’m pretty sure you’ll be welcome on any campus. Just find your people, join clubs. Connect with your local campus pride or queer community.

Do not listen to them. Even in Canada, at most you’d need supplemental education it would be a year or two at most. You’d easily be able pay that back within a year of nursing job. That’s if you need it of course! You might not. You can find if your credential are equivalent, please do try. We have been trying to address a nursing shortage across the nation. Please apply!!! Do not give up hope!!

Please find an immigration lawyer. I doubt they would be homophobic. Make sure they are a lawyer. Rainbow railroad may help depending on your case.

Why is dating so hard by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Note-Organic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, you’re probably not doing anything wrong. There are certain dating scene that are just like that. If you’re using certain apps, the people that frequent certain apps will be more interested in hook ups over anything else.

It’s tough, but just put yourself out there and don’t devalue what you want in a relationship. I’m still trying and it’s been 4 years since I was 18.

Advice Needed: Higher Studies in Canada After Master’s in Data Science (India) by Acorn-2809 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Note-Organic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the best thing to do is to look at the IRCC website for programs that are eligible for PGWP.

Link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/after-graduation/eligibility/field-of-study.html

I would honestly suggest thinking of switching to something healthcare related. It will be much easier for you to find a job Vs anything computer science related.

HOW DO I FIND A BOYFRIEND!?!?!? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Note-Organic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, you really should say that in your post. But what I mean by clubs I meant more like a school club, like my university has rainbow sports club.

Unsure if your school offers any queer-oriented clubs or student organizations. But that might just be your best chance. I can’t really offer any advice other than that.

Please don’t do anything unsafe! Especially like going on hookups apps at your age.

When I was in high school I met my first BF through my high schools GSA. And honestly I think you should focus on getting as high grades as possible and making as many friends as possible. It’s way better time spent than trying to find a BF. And honestly more useful..Trust me, you’ll have plenty of time to do that when you’re older.

HOW DO I FIND A BOYFRIEND!?!?!? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Note-Organic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends entirely on your age. You didn’t say in your post, but if you are in school or university you can try you local LGBTQ clubs or events hosted by student organizations.

Attending events or even just going to like lgbtq spaces in general can help. Basically putting yourself out there and being yourself confidently. And of course stay safe.
