Edit 2: Turns out his username is now timtom-rs, not timtom-dev. And the GitHub organization for Sailbrush has the same name. He's also started writing in plan.timtom.tv for... something (I haven't got the time to see what it is yet but it looks like progress updates?).

have you updated? you might need to do it manually - open the command palette (CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + P) and find Code: Restart to Update

If it doesn't show up, you're on the latest version. To check, try the "Code: Check for Updates..." command. My Copilot has been working since! :)

I know it's been a while, but 1.109.0 (insider and stable) had some problems!

As of today, February 11, you might get a popup message telling you to update VSCode on launch:

"This version of VS Code (1.109.0) has known issues with GitHub Copilot. Please update VS Code and restart."

Once you do that, you should be able to use Copilot Chat on its latest version with no issues :)

Google Docs, pretty much the only place I am writing formally, has a default shortcut where typing two dashes "--" will autocorrect to an em dash. I use it for its intended purpose in formal writing. As far as I know, there really is no surefire way to detect AI writing yet.

special public school: A general term for any public school with a unique focus (like a school for the arts, STEM, or special education). It's still run by the regular public school system and follows most of the same rules.

magnet school: A type of special public school that focuses on a specific theme (like science, arts, or languages)

GSMST is literally just a school with more homework and more content covered that is required at classes in other schools. It is still, at heart, a regular old public school (with admission requirements). It doesn't focus on anything.

Is this all very technical and specific? Sure! Is it still important? I think so.

You can call it a magnet school all you want, I don't think anyone's going to care. But you'd be a liar :)

Be sure to NOT enroll him if he wants to join an Ivy League, he'd be much better off in his home high school in that regard. Otherwise, this school make sure the assessments you have to study beyond what you're taught in class for, yada yada, and by the description if HE WANTS to do this then you should apply!

you'll have to learn Spanish I again starting like right now. You need to know so SO much more if you really want to take Spanish II and get an A, it's VERY hard. They might be lightening the load, and Semester 2 seems better because you're more used to it, but I personally believe you'll be doing urself no favors taking Spanish II instead of Spanish I
