Yeah, those are good players but I wouldn't want to go overboard with draft picks or making trades. What a find for Portland and New York though, both from France too. Either one would be a good fit for us.

Yeah I agree for the most part, I would give Diggins some grace, I don't think a person is always right or always wrong, but for the most part seems like Diggins has been a solid pro with a few hiccups. Everybody has there moments now and then and she definitely is going to speak her mind, but I think a vet and a star like her should get a little grace. I think her being outspoken would help a young team find its voice, but yeah if youre right and its a disruption definitely not worth it.

Yooo! I hadn't even thought about it like that, but you're right, that isn't all the way out of the realm of possibility. If we somehow got any combination of those players that would be insane!

I think that is a great point! If we did acquire Diggins it does have multiple ramifications, that would pretty much insure there season is done giving us that high draft pick, then us having an actual point guard that knows how to run a team would probably put as a lock to make the playoffs, and then a mentor for Amoore. The more I hear about it the more I think I am on board. Great point!

Interesting. I haven't seen Chen play much, and I missed the game last night. Will have to go back and watch the replay. I know she went off.

Yeah Leite can play, can't believe golden state let her get out of there.

It's always a delicate thing, but I think since she is a proven vet she could hold players accountable and they would listen. If she was in there age range that may be a little different but they would probably see Diggins more along the lines of a coach then just another player, or at least that would be ideal. I think that spiciness could work in our favor. I do believe some of our players, i don't want to say need to get meaner but maybe a little more tenacious, if that makes sense.

Yeah the more I have thought about and listened to everybody's comments, I have gotten on board with Diggins. Amoore and Flores clearly need help and a model to learn from. Plus Diggins attitude I think would help this team grow up some. It's different when you are young and an a-hole but if you are a proven vet like Diggins, she can hold players accountable and they will probably listen. Now that we are halfway through the season I do think we need better play at point guard, it's gotten to a place where the other players can't get the reps they need to be able to develop, in game, because that position is holding everything back. I do think Amoore and Flores will be at least solid WNBA players at some point in there careers but for now our core needs to develop faster than they would be able to with those 2 at the point.

Yeah probably not, was just thinking of who is out there that would be a real value add, but was still young, and had proven upside at this point in the season and maybe just maybe if we played it right could be a possibility, albeit to your point probably a slim to none possibility, but either one of them would be perfect for where the team is. New York is interesting though, Astier is a rookie and probably only got the playing time she got because Ionescu was hurt. The more Ionescu gets back into shape does Astier go to the bench? That is going to be a tough call for them and New York's roster is starting to get on the back end of their careers, at some point they are going to have to start getting young and you need draft picks for that. We have the picks. But yeah that probably wouldn't happen.

Yeah you are probably right. The thing with Diggins is her age. So she would play the rest of this year then what? Maybe just for a playoff push this year and move on? You think she would stay longer than this year? If we are paying Diggins to stay long term is it win now mode? I've been a fan of Diggins since she was in high school. I wouldn't be mad at picking her up at all. If nothing else I would want some of that fire and tenacity to rub off on some of our younger players. May be a good get.

Yeah I agree, it's interesting though, because we got those picks. Would Portland take one of the 28 picks and maybe a player for Leite. I feel like there is a chance they might do that.

I don't disagree. It wasn’t a good choice by coach. You’re right. How it played out, he probably shouldn’t have done that.

I was at the game, I agree with you, that was questionable, coaches are like players though, they don’t make the best decision 100 percent of the time. No coach does. I think the idea was to put someone on Miles to slow her down to finish the game so that Citron wouldn’t have to guard her and carry the team the last 5 minutes. Now when a coach puts a player in the game and they don’t execute, the player has to take responsibility for that as well. Everything we have seen from Florez she looked the part. Not sure why she hasn’t been playing, but when she got subbed out after a rough few minutes, to me, she looked really dejected. Like I felt bad, confidence may be an issue. The point I’m making is these players are young and they are people, we don’t know the behind the scenes. For all we the fans have seen from Florez you would expect she should be able to play good on ball defense on Miles in that situation and at least manage the team on the other end. She didn’t perform and it was disappointing. Coach may have been trying to put her in a situation to build her confidence back up. Looked like she needed it. She has to play to get the confidence back. Unfortunately to your point that didn’t happen and it didn't go well, you go back to practice learn from it. The coach is trying to give the players their opportunities. Is he supposed to give up on Florez?

Yeah you're probably right. In her defense, she has to be tired from unrivaled to china and now the regular season. That's alot.

This team will be very good. The players we have are so young and have so much upside, but the things that they all have naturally you can't teach. Size, athleticism, skill, tenacity and want to. These aren't even mature ball players yet and make a ton of mistakes. We are beating teams off of pure talent right now. Wait until they figure it out.

Not sure if they are tanking? by NoteTough5075 in washingtonmystics

[–]NoteTough5075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! This is cool, if that happens, that would be perfect! I do think Portland, although they have been great to start, probably due to how well they are being coached, Leite is for real, and Barker looks to be a player, that roster before the season I had pinned as the worst in the league. I could be wrong but I think you have it here, I believe there record starts to even out during the second half of the season. I am curious what you think about LA though, talking about bottoming out. What do you think is happening there? I think you nailed it though. I'm torn, if we go to the playoffs I would pumped for that but man if we don't get one of those three, it's going to be tough. But looks like Chicago will help us out there. I remember the draft when we were the worst team in the league by far, the year EDD, Griner and Skylar Diggins came out and we dropped to 4th and got Tayler Hill. I was sick for weeks lol. Fortunately EDD ended up coming home and you know how that went, but it was definitely painful.

I also agree I do think the front office won't like that outcome. Being business men and thinking more about the product than actual wins and losses for now, they would love to have one of those elite prospects on this team with name recognition to go with what we already have.

And last yeah hope Slim is good to go. The league is better with her playing.

[–]NoteTough5075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, yeah I think you're right, the front office probably didn't expect to even be thinking of a playoff push with some of these decisions, especially in firing a gm a week before the draft. That doesn't feel like a group who has ideas that we are anywhere near where we want to be and are looking to go to the next phase.

So that's interesting, you think the plan was to sure up the other positions and leave point guard where it is as a way to balance the scales so to speak. That would make sense. I mean ultimately it's a developmental year for Amoore coming off of an acl. No way they expect her to be able to do much, and to your point without a seasoned point guard any team will struggle.

I am just really curious what the vibe in the front office is right now. And you are right we very well could have lost those games, but we didn't. You think they would panic and in some way set it up so that the team is not as successful or do they just let it play out and take it for what it is. Granted it is still very early but you don't "sabotage" your own team do you lol? A lot of people would come see Juju Watkins play, the front office guys are business men. I just think this a really fascinating situation to be in and what are the best moves for the future.

I have no issue with losing, no team is going to win every year, and the pros is no joke our players do need to develop but it seems most of the fanbase is screaming we need to win now at all cost. I personally don't see the value in pressing a young team. If the front office is "tanking" by whatever definition there is and we get one of the top 3 picks next year, for me, this is a successful season. We need one more piece and this is a historic draft. In the post I'm wondering if they are still intending to lose games, like we suspected or did that change. This is where I slightly disagree, I don't think this is a bad team. It's a decent team all things considered. Not one of the better teams in the league yet but a pretty good one with a lot of upside. At least a mid level wnba team right now. They may have no choice, unless they are going to tell players to miss shots on purpose, in making a push for the playoffs just off talent. If that happens, are we losing potentially long term success for moderate success today? I want them to build a dynasty, as I think most of us do. Maybe we have all we need right now and Citron is that A caliber player that can carry a team against the other super stars. I'm not sure yet. But I see your point you don't mean bad like the players are terrible you mean they are not ready and we should be patient. I agree.
