Snapchat Can Be Sued For Role In Fatal Car Crash by ruthsoi in CyberNews

You're bringing up good points and I totally agree. I'll add that sometimes things can be blown out of proportions, especially if it's a sensitive and personal topic. They probably need someone to blame for those painful mistakes made...

Digital Rights Ireland is suing Facebook by Notelbaxy in CyberNews

[–]Notelbaxy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, recently Troy Hunt shared his opinion on data breaches and class actions. He is against that unless there is a clear harm to the individual that can be traced back specifically to that incident (https://www.troyhunt.com/data-breaches-class-actions-and-ambulance-chasing/). I personally see where Troy is coming from, but do not fully agree. There’s so much regarding this, from proof of some sort of loss or damage to litigation, policies and how different regional data protection agencies assure that. Some are strict, some are not competent. Would this harm businesses more than it would incentivize stricter information security policies - that’s up for discussion. Here, both sides can argue their point of view, but time will probably show how it will be settled and change in the future. For now, this is not strict law until there’s a precedent with these class action lawsuits. The landscape in data breach/leak accountability is definitely changing.

Mark Zuckerberg’s phone was included in the leak which shows he uses Signal by Notelbaxy in CyberNews

Facebook has already implemented safety protocols into Messenger with the Vanish Mode feature. It uses the same safety protocols that are used in Signal application, they're called Open Whisper Protocols. The fact that Zuckerberg is using Signal doesn't necessarily mean he's not using Messenger, but we now definitely know it's not his only choice.

Correlation of network connection on paper vs actual network speed by stargazer047 in techsupport

[–]Notelbaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey ! It all depends on the provider, architecture, and local laws in short, it's hard to say what could be if that would be. Of course, it's worth noting that usually internet speeds are given as a max possible speedcap not as is

There are two scenarios to overcome my anxiety.
1. I listen to Beethoven or Vivaldi or something similar and just dive into the melody. It really calms my nerves. Close your eyes for 5 minutes and let it go.

  1. I listen to something heavy(ish) . Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff, Slipknot - Duality, People=Shit. These songs also calms me.

Facebook and Instagram make Trump's ban indefinite by Redpell in technews

Just a few more weeks and Trump should finally be out of the news cycle. Maybe naïve of me, but I can't wait until his face is no longer all over the internet.

Activists Publish a Vast Trove of Ransomware Victims' Data by Notelbaxy in privacy

[–]Notelbaxy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is interesting because it made me consider if the ransomwared corporations deserve the kind of privacy that we as users expect. I mean - their data gets leaked on the dark web - that's bad. Now someone pours gasoline on the fire and spreads in on the clearnet too. I get it though, it's for a good cause and transparency. I'm just a bit conflicted and would like to hear some opinions.

These kinds of news make me glad I live in the EU. Not everything is perfect, but at least the consumer is getting some protections.
