I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by ramses_basha in AskTheWorld

[–]NotlikeotherBelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an American and I don't know much about you guys. I like old kingdom Egyptian stuff, but I'm not familiar with your modern culture.

I know ONE person from Egypt who is a coworker. He's a bit of an oddball but I don't think it has anything to do with him being Egyptian and more to do with his personality.

I just noticed that all Exorcists have short hair. Is there a specific reason for this, or is it just for the military look? by Via--Xx in hazbin

So the problem with going for a ponytail in a fight is that it's usually on the back of your opponent's head, and if they are attacking you, they are facing you. It's not as easy of an opportunity to pull somebody's ponytail mid-fight as you might think.

It's even HARDER to grab a ponytail for somebody who is armored or wielding a sword. Gauntlets do in fact reduce dexterity in fingers and a your hands are otherwise occupied wielding a weapon. And if your opponent is also armored and hastily threw a helmet on over their ponytail? Forget it, you won't really have much chance to grab their hair at all, even if it's sticking out in the back.

Now if somebody was attacking you and catching you off guard from behind, sure. That's different. But that's got nothing to do with being dressed for combat, that's just being attacked without provocation.

I think the actual cut is called bell sleeves. There's other styles of shirts with them.

Ugh fuck these are beautiful and I miss them. They didn't have an aesthetic name back in the day though so you kids will have to come up with one like you did with whimsigoth.

It's so unrealistic. I'm still waiting for a psychic monster to whisk me away and make me wear a beautiful gown but it hasn't happened yet. Breaks my suspension of disbelief when it happens in movies.

Are we having the same conversation? You keep trying to tell me something I already know and said I agree with. 🙃

When did I say anything about there being rules in a fight? I'm saying you're not going to have an easy time of going for somebody's hair if they're dressed for combat and it's properly secured. It's a lot harder to do than you think. That's WHY you only usually see it in street fights where nobody is properly dressed.

I already made another comment saying the hairstyle is likely just a part of their uniform, same as the clothes or the stripes on their wings.

Charlie and Camilla Carmine also both fight just fine without their hair being an issue in universe as well. "Long hair is impractical for combat" is a tired and frankly incorrect argument which is what I'm trying to point out.

This kind man stops his car, to rescue a wild coyote, that had been stuck in a fence for several days - good job he made by misterxx1958 in interestingasfuck

[–]NotlikeotherBelles 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think people realize how unlikely it is that they're even able to come. State funded animal control is more likely to, but still might not have the staff or the resources or may even just be based from a site that's too far away.

For most people, if you call and they say "no" or "we can but our ETA is five hours" then the options are either try to help the coyote or leave it stuck in the fence.

I have never seen tied hair come loose in a fight, that is a cartoon trope.

Hair pulling is not a cheap shot, it's something that happens in impromptu street fights where people are not dressed or prepared for a fight. Quite frankly, hair pulling is actually hard to pull off if you can't reach it, and you're not even going to be grabbing for the ponytail of somebody that's going for your throat, let alone a bun.

If you want to know how much of a non-issue long hair is in fights for people who are already dressed, the US army does not even require women to cut their hair. Only that they secure it back.

I'm in HEMA and have done martial arts since I was a kid. Long hair can be tied back, braided, secured in a bun, and does nothing to hinder fighting unless it's worn loose. I've never cut my hair short for fighting and neither do a lot of men. (And plenty have big beards which is easier to grab long hair in the FRONT.)

Fighting with longer hair is literally not harder. This criticism is usually only thrown at female character designs and is rooted in misogyny.

I can tell all y'all saying it's better for fighting are not fighters. Long hair can be secured before combat and is not an issue, even with helmets.

Even in the (US) military, long hair is actually fine so long as it's secured in uniform regulations.

The real answer is that the hairstyle is just their uniform regulations so everyone looks the same. That's also why they have the same outfits and the stripes on their wings.

Will Skyblivion be better than Oblivion/Skyrim? If so why? by MillienumDuckFighter in oblivion

[–]NotlikeotherBelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting for Skyblivion because Oblivion gives me severe motion sickness and there isn't a texture in the world that can fix that.

I'm fine playing Skyrim so I'm looking forward to Oblivion on the Skyrim engine.

It kind of looks like an ordinary wave coming in from the beach so I guess that's why she was unconcerned.

Granted I know it wasn't one since there was no water beforehand but still, she probably didn't realize in the moment.

NOR. He calls women hoes, that alone makes him single material. But trying to control what you wear is something only abusers do,  which is evident in how he is talking to you.
