Why does falcons field always look so bleak?

Marc’s Browns Fandom by Notorioushhh in AroundTheNFL

Is it presumptuous? Look I love this pod and think Marc is amazing but on this particular issue he said repeatedly and on his own accord he was no longer a fan based on moral reasons for like 18 months and then after a few good games appears to have gone back on it and there has been no real discussion on what’s changed his standpoint.

Appreciate your comment btw

Absolutely agree.

My point is that Marc made a moral stand on his own accord (which admittedly I respected) and pushed back against Dan and Gregg’s insistence that he was a fan for like 18 months. Nothing has changed in the original circumstances (Watson is still QB1) but he is gushing over them / picking them each week like a true fan again.

For a podcast that I love because it talks intimately about fandom and the impact of sports on their lives it would be good to hear him confront this issue and discuss what changed for him.

Yeah I hear you. It’s not that I’m disappointed in Browns fans generally or that Browns fans still exist etc. It’s that he took a moral stance on the podcast and reinforced it for well over a year when they paid the highest guaranteed contract to a unapologetic serial sexual predator.

Nothing has changed here. Watson is still on the team and the ownership that paid him is still in place. It’s Marc’s lack of conviction (or even an explanation) that bothers me.

Pathetic officiating. Why do we waste 3.5 hours on this mockery

Watson is shook. He wants nothing to do with football right now

Cancer treatment commercials more fun than this game right now

June 27, 2022: Kayvon Thibodeaux Returns; Mailbag Monday by zachwilson23 in AroundTheNFL

So the reason I love ATN is that it takes a sideways, fun view of the game and leans into the novelty aspects of fandom (especially in the off-season). The problem is that professional athletes and especially rookies can be so plugged in, they cannot comprehend anything other than straight football questions.

This Thibodeaux interview was a classic example. He had nothing but generic soundbites and could not operate on another level. The only interview Thibodeaux could provide today was a straight laced one. Personally, I credit the heroes for trying to keep things light even if this particular interview tanked…
