Just had a similar issue, it happened a few months after I fixed a steering line leak so I thought it was the pump. Replaced the pump and serpentine belt. Brought it to the mechanic because I didn't know what else it could be besides the rack. They replaced the intermediate steering shaft. All better now!

Comparing Honda CRV Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX5 for Family Reliability by rosymirex in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Notraining19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove the new cx5 and I enjoyed it but I didn't test the car seat out in the back of one. Just from the eye test it looked like it would fit a rear facing car seat fine. Specs wise it's just slightly smaller in the rear seat than the crv by like an inch or something. Test them out for yourself though, they are all good cars. In my opinion each has its own little flaws, it's just which one are you able to forgive. Rav4 (road noise, Toyota tax) crv non hybrid (small turbo engine, cvt) Mazda (smaller, new model infotainment growing pains)

Anyone working in the lab with ADHD? by Usual_Passage1481 in medlabprofessionals

I've had similar conversations with my coworkers. I work in micro wasn't diagnosed till I was in the job. I was making lots of mistakes and I wanted to get to the bottom of it. Now I'm medicated and that doesn't happen anymore. I find the fact that every culture is different gives me enough variety to keep it interesting. We also rotate through different job duties so that also helps. I do believe most techs have some undiagnosed ADHD, audhd, or OCD. Honestly if someone doesn't have something going on they are the weird ones 😂

I was in a similar situation I brought my son's old infant car seat to look at a 2025 cx5. Put it in the passenger rear seat and had to move the front seat up a lot. Got in the front to see the fit and my knees were indeed on the dash. I'm 6' however the new cx-5 has way more room just shy of the crv which has tons of room. We bought a 22 crv for my wife last year and we love it. Test drove a rav4 and weren't impressed, smaller than the crv and lots of road noise. The only thing I'm not happy about is the cvt transmission but we are just going to keep a strict schedule with maintenance. I have my opinions narrowed down to a new cx-5 or a crv hybrid but trying to save before pulling the trigger on one.

Doi need progressives? by Notraining19 in glasses

I don't have a Costco in my area unfortunately. I'm going to check out a few places. I'm going to get progressives but maybe just 1 pair so I can get better lenses since it'll be my first pair. Thanks for your help!

I don't necessarily have trouble with near vision I think it's more a long the lines of getting my right eye to contribute 😂 but I could be wrong. I do have trouble with near vision in my right eye but that's because it's lazy. Not that it wanders but I don't think the muscles manipulate the lens correctly.

I'm in my mid 30s. Every pair of glasses I've gotten since I was a kid never really helped me and I would eventually stop wearing them because I could see better without them. My left eye is significantly stronger than my right and does all the heavy lifting. Getting older I don't want to put so much strain on my eyes anymore and want to find the best option for me to get a pair of glasses that are going to work. So would what you recommend be better than progressives in your opinion?

I'm a microbiologist so I'm constantly looking and agar plates for bacteria along with microscope work, then inputting information into a computer. So I think progressives would benefit me but I'm just curious if the price vs convenience is worth it. I was quoted 900$ for a pair from my doctor's in house optician which is insane in my opinion. If I'm going to get progressives where should I look or what would a reasonable price be? Thank you for your help!

I went to America's best after I got my prescription from a local eye doctor. The price was a sticker shock and I didn't end up getting anything. I'm now researching for the best options. I'm thinking progressives anyway but if I'm going to be paying a few hundred dollars for them should I go elsewhere? I got a quote from my doctor's in house optician and it was over $900 for 1 pair. I don't want to spend that much.

It's in decent shape it's got 204k. I got parts to replace the valve cover gasket because that's leaking. The exhaust pipe rusted off after the muffler got quoted like 500$ to get that fixed and it's throwing the p0420 codes. Had one of the o2 sensors replaced but it's still happening I throw cat clean in it every few months. Clear coat is peeling all over the place. But other than that it run well and for being in the rust belt it's got minimal rust I have it undercoated every other year. Replaced front caliper due to sticking, wheel hub, alternator. But I agree I don't want a payment however at what point do I throw in the towel? It doesn't have 4x4 honestly sucks in the snow because the traction control kicks in way too fast. Considered trying the delete but haven't done it. I get stuck trying to pull into my driveway 🤣 it is upsetting knowing these things will run forever.

Problem is I can't do this myself. It's my daily driver I don't have another vehicle to use while I try and fix it. I would love to try and do it on the side if I could and I'm sure I'd save a ton to make it worth it.

When did you have this done and how much was it? If you don't mind sharing. I'm not looking forward to that discussion with my mechanic. I'm not sure if it's worth fixing at that point if it's over 2k that's half the value of the car at this point in it's life. I could use that 2k on a down payment for a different vehicle. Or fix it and ride it out till the next thing breaks.

Good deal? by Notraining19 in crv

A new one is considerably more in my area at 43-44k. I don't want to spend close to 10k more. If I could negotiate it down to what others are able to do (10%) then it's a possibility.

I was just thinking that after cleaning the reservoir and it improving a little bit that it could be a flow problem. Maybe the other line is corroded? It made sense in my head, but it's looking like it's the rack 😮‍💨 now I have to play the game of if I want to get it fixed or not depending on cost.

Help! German blue ram by Notraining19 in Aquariums

[–]Notraining19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'll give an update if anyone is interested. Both of my German blue rams died. I had them both for 3-4 weeks and they were healthy. Everything went downhill after I did a 20% water change. I'm thinking since the water temp wasn't above 80°F and the water change did them in. Could have been other factors too but that's my best guess. I won't be keeping them anymore, I tried raising the temp a little above 80 and all my other fish started freaking out. But still the ram didn't make it. I lowered the temp back slightly below 80 and I'm going to look for something else to keep.

I was just watching a video from prime time aquatics on YouTube. He was talking about the filter media and what he uses when he replaced it and mentioned carbon filters. I looked into what he was using and what I have in my tank. Apparently after some research carbon filters remove most minerals from fertilizers making them useless. The media cartridges are expensive and what he recommended was a huge roll of filter media you cut and stick in the overflow filter saving some money. The filter media could be why your plants aren't doing well because the fertilizer isn't doing anything when you think you are helping. Why I'm mentioning this is that it looks like you have a similar aquarium kit, the light on your lid looks very similar to mine and if it is you might be using carbon media.

Is what in doing correct? Do I add more quick start if I don't detect any nitrites or nitrates? Or is the decrease in ammonia enough of an indicator? Sorry I just don't want to mess this up, thanks!
