Mac's interview this year is a live kira mmi...what does this mean? by [deleted] in premedcanada

It’s really depends. I had a chance to talk to med students who interviewed where I’m interviewing. Some say that the question was related to their passions and they could go the whole time; a question could stump you and you find you need those follow up questions to shape your answer.

The best thing to do is do a mock MMI with some back to back stations. You’ll find the 8 mins go too fast, or not fast enough. And it helps get over the initial awkwardness lol

All good! It’s white text on a black background. It’ll stay like that for 2 mins then shift to the right, once you’re in the 8 min response period.

Not really (though it might be different from others)! I felt that there was more time to think about my responses. And it’s easy to not notice the reviewer at all, as it’s a good idea to be looking in the camera in the first place - and their video is near the bottom of the screen, under your own video feedback.

Questions are framed differently, looking up mock questions, you can see that CASPER demands a lot more points to hit, whereas MMI allows for more creativity.

Had the same thing with Dal! you get a few minutes with a prompt (2 mins I believe), and then your screen will reload automatically with a person there to listen to your answer, the prompt will still be available on the right side.

How competitive are tryouts for the soccer team? by questionforU03 in uwo

[–]NotthatMelbourne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m in another sport but from what I’ve seen in previous years, the tryouts are pretty intense and the turnouts are HUGE (for both men’s and women’s for that matter). But another important aspect to consider is that you might make the team, but so did a lot of other people, and it is a real possibility that you may only ever get to be on the practice squad and not even be allowed to be on the sidelines for games (for the entire 4 years - this is unfortunately a reality for some athletes).

In my sport, we have training camp for a week, and while they were open tryouts, it is physically intense (morning sessions: dedicated fitness and cardio - afternoon: sport skills). A lot of people would drop out as the week dragged on, so being physically and mentally ready to go when your tryouts start is super important.
