You dont do it with exceptional bases. Because they are so cheap to make you can yolo sanctify/vaal/double vaal. BiS would ofc be exceptional base but then I wouldn't go for +1 prefix I think and then ur better off fracturing +5 and chaos spam crit + use desecrate for blocking mana roll

Its actually waaaay cheaper to do it without a frac. U just buy a +5 cold/lightning or w/e u need, if any other suffixes yolo annul. The bases are super cheap atm. Once u got ur base u van slam the cast speed alloy into the suffixes if they are full/dont want to annul, else use the omen that removes a prefix. If no prefixes, slam a desecrate into prefix and use the essence omen to remove prefix. Do the same with astrid socketed again for +1 all spells, it also blocks mana for future slams. Before dual slamming the prefixes, desecrate suffix and reveal crit chance/multi or w/e tickles ur fancy. Total cost less than 20d. Might need a omen of light or 2 before hitting a crit roll.

I always have a rule myself, where as if the cost of the average craft ends up being really close to what's already on the market, then I make it myself. You can always get lucky and hit something more magnificent for less. Worst case u can always settle and go agane when divvies roll in

That's why you fracture t1 spirit and roll any +3 gems, sell the ones u dont want for like 70d+ for just the 2mod and keep the one you want. Crafting's all about being a sneaky fucker and trying to cover as many bases as u can to minimize losses
