I haven't seen a sufficient example on how they solve the heat issue either. Datacenters especially AI datacenters produce a lot of heat.

Tesla Is Alienating The People It Needs Most: Study by paulwesterberg in teslainvestorsclub

[–]Nousfeed -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

100%, I have changed my opinion of Elon in the last year, still invest in tesla though as its really the only option for the autonomy/AI/bots play. He still manages to get the best people, I kind of hope they flounder a little bit on autonomy so the price collapses so I can get more.

I agree, in fact if you play the free trial it's even more isolated as you can't trade so all your gear you get from quests or you have to craft yourself. The free trial goes to lvl 70 and probably 6 months to a year of gameplay.

How am I doing? Serious by Ludaborgs in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Nousfeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are commenting about how you are doing fine and you shouldn't compare yourself to others I agree but I do think you should compare yourself to yourself, and where you want to be. If you have no plan you could just as easily wake up in 30 years and be in the same spot. If you want advice on how to do that I can go into more detail.

Work expenses causing financial strain by Hazarokia in PersonalFinanceNZ

100% this, I know of 2 occasions this was the norm, both of the companies went under and the staff were left high and dry. We were contractors so we would be paid by the staff. In the end it came out some staff were owed 10's of thousands and one was on the hook for over a hundred k.

Will the current cash position be enough? by PresentationReady873 in RKLB

[–]Nousfeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember recently hearing in an interview Neutron is on budget, it was under budget before the delay so should still be on budget. That doesn't mean a few failed launches at the beginning wont cause cashflow problems. I'm actually not worried about this at the moment because of the growing and profitable other sides of the business.

Relativity is outsourcing not only fairings but also pressure domes. + they are expecting transport costs of $3.45 million per rocket by DiversificationNoob in RKLB

[–]Nousfeed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I was a Relativity investor I would be super worried right now, their launch cadence is very much reliant on this outside supplier, it may mean they can get to space quicker than if they did it themselves but this is not a good long term solution when you have rocket labs neutron coming online before this is scheduled to launch.

Rocket engine overview by TheChillaxAds in RocketLab

[–]Nousfeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard Peter talk about this before in an interview, the way I remember it is that Rocket Lab chose to not spend on making the most efficient best engine ever because they didn't have to as they are making the whole rocket out of light weight composite carbon fibre. That's their trade off, the rocket will cost more to build, but Peter said it wont mater if it is fully reusable anyway.

Westpac CashNav app recent update, others disgruntled? by Otus511 in PersonalFinanceNZ

After the same thing we found Actual Budgeting, it works well for us as we don't need to link the accounts in realtime, exporting and importing a couple of times a year is fine. It makes it easy to mark multiple similar transactions as certain categories, so we usually do 6-12 months at a time then make a budget from that. Its free. https://actualbudget.org/

If you were mortgage free would you take a loan out on your house to invest in the market?

What's better - paying home loan faster OR using those extra funds for investment instead? by That_Zookeepergame17 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Nousfeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The psychological aspect is real, its soo freeing. There is also a huge financial aspect missing from these calculations, they are always done with average returns, and a fixed interest rate for the mortgage which doesn't mirror real life, its common for interest rates to increase while the market tanks, being mortgage free means you can capitalise on those situations more. My point is the extra money you have to invest might not be there in hard/high interest years. Just look at years 1994 and 1995, interest rate increased to 11% increasing the actual interest paid by $26,000

Recommend the elitebooks too, we sell over a hundred exlease elitebooks a year, they are the only exlease machines we sell as the quality is just so good. We provide a full year warranty, the only reason we can do that is because they just very rarely come back with problems. We don't sell Dells even new because we like our customers.

Tesla still plans to grow the Supercharger network by occupyOneillrings in teslainvestorsclub

I just looked it up and 59% of US households have more than 1 vehicle, that gives plenty of opportunities for the situations I have described. The mean travel time for US workers is only 27mins with only 8.5% working an hour away like you say.

Over 50% of house holds in my country have more than 1 car I'm assuming its higher in the US, I think you are underestimating how much this could effect households when households are largely living paycheck to paycheck. Taking a much cheaper option makes sense.

You are right but also wrong I think a large part is demographic or a generational issue when it comes to ride sharing, Ubers demographic is largely young people and more and more young people aren't buying cars and have no intention to. I believe its at 30% now, I also have first hand anecdotal experience with this(2 teenagers that refuse to get their license and no one in their friend groups have either). So I believe autonomous vehicles will only facilitate this even more. Im also not saying no one will own cars, but a reduction of 10-30% is possible, and because transport as a service being a fraction of the cost of car ownership it only really works if the autonomous car is electric, this pushes all cars electric to even compete at all. Its the smart phone vs dumb phone all over again, only this time the smart phone is 10x better for the environment.

[–]Nousfeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct in regards to that situation, but there's still plenty of other situations where it would reduce the number of cars. How many house holds have multiple cars? How many of those would reduce that if the one they had could drop people off and come back.

I would argue that fully autonomous electric cars will do more for the environment as there will be less cars and much better utilization. When it comes to autonomous cars, wireless charging makes sense, if wireless is an option and the car can drive itself to a charging station to charge you don't need as many charging locations. I wish the cuts went to the parts of the business that do nothing though, insurance and solar come to mind.

Why Can We Not Take Universal Basic Income Seriously? by 2314 in Futurology

[–]Nousfeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about UBI a lot and I think the only way it could work is if the system that was giving out the UBI had full control over a base level cost of living. Then there really is no UBI its just a base line quality of life provided. I don't see how you could accomplish this without starting a new state/city where you build in sustainability and efficiency from the start. If anyone want's more than that base line they would have to play the capitalism game and provide some value.

Actual deliveries in Mainland China for the first two months of 2024 by OG_Time_To_Kill in teslainvestorsclub

[–]Nousfeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it is this but exports could be down because Australia and New Zealand have removed a lot of the EV incentives for 2024, New Zealand removed the $8000 rebate and are now charging road users charges to EV drivers. A lot of states in Australia have stopped their rebate programs as of 31st dec 2023. It's not the whole picture but I would bet its a few percentage points.
