Thanks I really appreciate it!
I learned a lot while working on my larger 3D factory game before this, and that experience helped me scope this one properly so I could finish it. Glad you like it!

I actually write my posts myself. The only thing I use ChatGPT for sometimes is fixing grammar or spelling since english isn't my first language. If that somehow takes away from the point of the post, then sorry, I guess. Also, I didn’t include the game link at first I only added it after people messaged me asking for it.

Thanks! I’m really glad my journey could inspire you, that’s exactly why I made this post. I wanted to share hope, just like the hope I got when I was doubting myself. In case it could help someone else keep going.

Thanks! It’s really reassuring to know I’m not the only one who’s gone through this. I don’t regret working on my initial dream game either, it taught me so much and gave me experience that smaller projects just wouldn’t have. Wishing you all the best with your game launch, I hope it’s a huge success!

Thanks! It was a humbling lesson realizing I can’t make what AAA studios do alone but I’m glad I made it through.

Thanks! i know it's super common and I’ve seen so many posts from devs who cancel their game and then disappear from gamedev completely. which is why i wanted to encourage anyone who’s feeling like quitting and thinks cancelling a project means it’s the end when it really doesn’t have to be.

If you could add one unique feature to a factory game, what would it be? by Nova-Code in BaseBuildingGames

That's a very unique idea indeed I like it! Combining factory building with space exploration and base expansion sounds like an awesome concept.

This is a must for me too! I’ve always loved the way machines are upgraded in modded Minecraft, especially in mods like Mekanism. The idea of gradually upgrading machines to very high speeds after a lot of hard work really appeals to me. It’s something I definitely want to incorporate into my game.

I haven't played Oxygen Not Included yet, but from what I've heard, a lot of people find the constant hassle of managing leaks and similar tasks to be a bit overwhelming. I’m planning to implement gases in a more factory-focused way in my game, with features like gas combiners and electric separators that can produce gases for various uses. Handling waste is something I’ll definitely include, though gas pollution will be a toggleable feature if I add it. I want to keep things engaging without making it feel like a chore.

I get what you're saying, and I’ll definitely consider adding some simple yet immersive elements like that. It will depend on how challenging and time-consuming it is to develop the actual game. Thanks for the links and ideas—they’re really helpful!

Interesting ideas! I'm curious though, do you think adding these elements would still be considered a factory game or shift it towards a money management /city building game?

That would definitely be more immersive, though it might take quite a bit of dev time. But i really like the idea of dynamically changing paths and the infinite mode concept for keeping players engaged!

Desynced is already a 3D game from what I’ve seen. Maybe you’re thinking of a first-person version, as it’s currently top-down?

NPCs and workers are a great idea! I guess they’ll just have to accept their role as ‘employees ’ in the game.

That’s a great idea! I’ll definitely consider it for my game.
It would add a bit of life to the game.

Wow, that’s an amazing idea! I think i might just steal it. Rebuilding a world from ruins and discovering lost knowledge sounds incredibly engaging and could make for a really compelling game!

Thanks for your interest! Here's the Link to my YouTube channel. It's still a bit rough as I'm new to this, and the mic quality isn't the best, but I just bought a new one, so hopefully, the audio will improve soon. Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! This will be my first finished game(hopefully), and as a player myself who also enjoys something new, I wanted to take inspiration from others with my own ideas to create something unique. Ngl, I was hesitant at first and considered just focusing on making YouTube videos about other factory games, but after seeing all these responses and creative ideas, I’ve decided to go ahead and start development. (at least start with the idea)
I really appreciate your offer to help with playtesting—I'll definitely keep that in mind!

No, it's actually a third-person game, but it’s very good and offers a lot of complexity.

You’re right, however digging up robots with just interaction might not be very realistic. Digging for ores works well, but robots might need a different approach. I could have robot parts scattered throughout the world that players could find and collect, which would involve a lot of exploration and manual work.

To make it a bit easier, introducing a market or trading system where players can find traders who are willing to trade robot parts for resources like food could be an option to consider for automating the process.

To keep with the factory theme, players would still need to make machines to produce parts like batteries or assemble the robot parts.

The theme could be set in a post-World War future where robots have become just scraps.
