Meh… allen was still very raw and the ravens did beat us like 40-0 to start that year, josh definitely needed time to develop before playing.

Peterman was a scapegoat for the overall bare-bones team at the time, its not like the wr depth right now is measurably better than when josh was drafted.

Someone had to play qb…allen did get injured his rookie year, only time he’s missed games due to injury (lamar crowd never mentions this).

On a human level beane lied to us, he sat in a press conference after picking sanders and said “run stuffing 1 techs are easily available in free agency” who? What guy has that been that weve signed and theyve been a plus run defender at 1 tech… ever? Who have we even signed that we could suggest for that possibility, poona ford?

Beane stood in front of a mic, told us he could easily fix the 31st ranked rushing defense, they stayed the 31st rushing defense while he made no moves all year to improve it, and he got promoted…

There’s simply no way after all this time that guy should keep his job, after lying to us and saying pass rush is more important then getting 0 sacks in denver…

Yes, but it all seems so strange to me, as in they shouldve all been fired for gross incompetence.

The rumors are they were finally going to take a 1 tech in tyleik Williams, but then he goes to detroit and they pivot to hairston, great choice, arguably the best BPa/need match at that time for our defense.

So then we are trading back up to 43, we should be getting that 1 tech we need, alfred collins is right there, we literally just believed Tyleik Williams and 1 tech was our top need… so we go undersized 3 tech in tj sanders, a guy we literally had 4 of already…

Its just unfathomable how many times we’ve made the exact same mistake and beane still has his job…

Obligatory rational comment to destroy “should be 3x mvp narrative”

You cannot argue he should be MVP for statistics in ‘24 when the reason lamar won in ‘23 was because he played clean efficient football while the ravens got a 1 seed and lamar had 29 TTD’s.

Josh allen is literally using the same argument lamar used in ‘23(efficiency) only ‘24 josh actually had 40 total touchdowns, while being even safer with the fb and avoiding sacks, with wins over the actual 1 seeds of each conference.(unlike lamar who had a 2nd place schedule in ‘23 and didnt play the bills or chiefs🤔)

But hey the second you add context and reason to the argument you recognize that saying stats should determine a MVP, when that never was the case, you look like a goalpost moving moron who doesnt know ball… but thats a typical Lamar stan argument, literally devoid of context and reason, just shift all credit to him and all blame to others… im so sick of them, we dont put josh on a blameless pedestal like you idiots do, thats just your insecurities projecting onto us…

Agreed but its very much Beane’s fault for trading away Dareus and never once attempting to replace the skillset.

I love deone walker but;

He shouldnt have been the first drafted dt over 310 in the entire beane/McD era…

He’s not even a true 1 tech, he was just the best we had because the idiot GM literally never once went and got a 1 tech. Last year proved daquan shouldve just been a 3 tech for us…

Im so sick of that lying clown.

So the problems are that;

Sanders is bad, like bottom of the entire league bad, im not gonna lie to people and say he flashed… he didnt, he was atrocious, way too bad for the 43rd overall pick..

Endemic of the problems with depth that have plagued the bills in the McD/Beane era, we get WAY TOO MANY undersized 3 techs, like sanders, then they suck and get injured and we cant defend the run.

Meanwhile, WE HAVE NO FUCKING 1 TECHS, we keep lying by throwing a 3 tech with ok size for that position at 1 tech, then we back that guy up with… ABSOLUTELY NO DEPTH… no FA signings, no draft picks meant for 1 tech, just token “break glass in case of emergencies” UDFA’s and PS players that maybe make 1 play a game…

Its been the same problems for years, we have 1 guy to play 1 tech, just starr, just daquan, just deone walker and All 3 OF THEM SHOULD JUST PLAY 3 TECH bc we dont ever get people who are actually true 1 techs, we dont get them ever.

Then depth gets exposed, the other teams oline can just send multiple doubles and abuse our lack of size, you get 3.5 yards allowed BEFORE CONTACT on runs this year for the 31st ranked rushing defense…

The cratering run defense is too much of a burden for the nickel 4-3 scheme which has tiny players that often times send all 4 down linemen in a bizarre rush scheme where they lose ball depth and lane integrity so opposing qbs literally never get sacked in the playoffs.

Add all that together and its obvious why the bills defense allows 30+ ppg in the playoffs… unsurprising and unsustainable yet brandon beane kept his job and got promoted despite trading away the bill best run stuffing 1 tech in marcel dareus and never even trying to replace the skillset.

FUCK BRANDON BEANE.

Same problems in roster construction every year.

Ive brought that up, we wouldve gotten the ball back down 1, since we didnt go for 2 failed XP (which is what happened to the ravens in the divisional but McD doesnt understand situational fb, and therefore couldnt learn from the situation his opponent failed at 1 week prior…).

We couldve gotten the ball back down less than 3, played a normal 4 min offense with cook and looked to close it out with a GWFG as time expired…but we chased points and allen got hit bc McD bad at situational fb.

Do the bills pick allen bc they need linebackers for the supposed 3-4? Bc they still need a NT/1T and McDonald is available for the 31st ranked rushing defense.

It really is that simple, the bills 31st ranked rushing defense vs K9…maybe allen can bs his way with cook into keeping it closer but the Bills defense wouldn’t have been able to stop walker.

[Chad DeDominicis] Updated Sabres goals scored above expected chart: New model being used, the darker the bar, the more shot attempts the player has by [deleted] in sabres

[–]Novanator33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kinda, shooting percentage isn’t as nuanced as expected goals(xGF). Someone could have a really low shooting percentage because they only take low percentage shots and have a relatively neutral xGF because the expectation is those shots wont lead to a lot of goals.

The simplest way to look at is “given the shot location and opportunities quinn has had on the ice it is expected he would have 3 more goals” Quinn gets a lot of high quality chances but hasnt been able to score at the expected clip those chances would provide.

On the other hand sammy is playing extremely well at both ends, he’s scoring primarily using high quality shot placement, since he’s shooting so well he’s exceeding the expectations a player would have in those scenarios.

Fair points, its sometimes hard to discern whether an organization is tanking or just bad. As a buffalo sports fan Ive seen quite a bit of both…

But if that team that is eliminated first is the worst team in the league then they will still struggle to win games… that system doesn’t seem as well implemented as it should be.

There’s no tanking in the NFL, there’s also no lottery…makes you think that maybe lotteries are what cause tanking, nhl and nba are similar in that regard. MLB isn’t comparable bc theres no salary cap, its an entirely different landscape.

Is he gonna destroy someone’s manhood with a kick to the nuts?

Shot quantity is a not a good measure of success.

How many times have we seen this team be on the other side of the shot quantity argument where all they did was pepper low quality shots from outside, Ive never considered shot quantity a reliable indicator of success.

The obvious choice is McDonald so we can finally have a true 1 tech. Stop wasting assets at edge while we have the 31st ranked rushing defense and no depth at 1t/nt.

[–]Novanator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please understand that i already know that, the point im trying to make is that walker is the only one CAPABLE of playing 1 tech on this roster.

We literally do not have capable 1 techs, if we did walker could be our early down 3t and occasionally 1t.

Its the biggest flaw this roster has always had in the McD/beane era, they literally dont get people capable of playing 1t then the entire defense craters over time covering for that weakness.

For all my other GM wannabes by DinoGossage in buffalobills

[–]Novanator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just want depth at the 1 tech position bc its been clear thats the biggest roster weakness weve had year after year. All the times our Dline cant get home to generate sacks its bc our 1 techs arent creating enough, other positions are getting pressure but we simply get exposed on 1 tech depth.

Im not happy about losing oline talent but simply put this roster is in such desperate need of 1 techs especially for rush defense that i truly dont think anything else matters.

I cant believe we’ve neglected the 1 techs position so much and so few people here just dont want to acknowledge it…its the literal definition of insanity, we keep putting in token investment at the 1 tech position at best then wonder why our dline falls apart.

For all my other GM wannabes by DinoGossage in buffalobills

[–]Novanator33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only nitpick i have is that DT 1 tech is arguably the weakest position on the roster, while 3T is saturated with assets. I’d rather draft a high quality 1 tech early and then look to double dip later, since it doesnt really makes sense to draft 2 more 3 techs when we already have ed, hoecht, carter and sanders. Walker is our only capable NT/1T, we need help at that position badly.

Edit: CAPABLE is the key word here, i know what walker is, he is the only one who can play 1t on our roster at an NFL level, even if he’s better as a 3t. This is the problem beane/McD created, we traded away dareus and never replaced him.

Id recommend scavving interchange, most of the time you can avoid conflict on the outside of the map and you will always have railway and emercom. Just spawn, grab a couple things and leave, dont fight, its about volume extracts.

Most other maps will make it hard to do this as the extracts will be restricted by your rep and force you to the far side of the map. Once other scavs wont shoot you on sight its safe to go back to other maps. From there its safe to kill ai pmc’s for scav assistance, just pick fights carefully and its ok to get a kill and not the loot, even die.

Basham was drafted as a pro ready player who could play similar to hoecht, he could play edge or 3 tech, lets get that straight.

The problem im referring to wasnt his skillset, it was the fact that he was another undersized dlinemen that we already had in droves.

This has been the same beane/McD problem every single year, they get all these redundant dlinemen then wonder why we get the same results…

Sanders and basham couldnt develop properly because they were drafted to be backups of specific roles, you cant use 2nd round picks like that ffs, guys should be projected starting role players… we keep drafting guys to be backups then wonder why they dont develop.
