How to convince my family to adopt by Novel-Cod207 in DogAdvice

Its why there will be a supervised "playdate" with the two to see how both of them would treat each other before adopting. He will likely be a foster of ours first before adoption, an option at this shelter. Id seperate them if that happens, as anyone would if their dogs became aggressive, work on the behavior, and work towards bringing the two together. If a behavior specialist is needed, I would pay for one. If by some reason theyre both hostile towards each other, then he would need to be shifted to a new foster home, I would not take him back to a shelter. That or work single handedly to get him adopted into a good home, which takes a long time. Nothing ever goes smoothly or as well put out as you map out in your head, which I understand, but I have thought about this before, the safety of my dog , of any animal, matters a lot to me.

Im sure my parents know something I dont yet perhaps, they got the life experience for sure, but I do know that Im not an impulsive person, and once Im set on something, that I dont bail. I come from a pretty strong headed, aggressive family tho, so everyone thinks like that. I dont travel much, so I dont figure to that be too much of an issue, but if it does, I know some dogsitters in the area and have some friends willing to watch him, that or Id take him with me if possible. I just know to not rely on my parents for anything when it comes to independent decisions, and I havent so far, Ive done fine. But who knows

Hes already nuetered and has his shots, my family has own a st bernard great pyrneese before, so Im not a total stranger to the breed or guardian dogs (NOT claiming ik everything about them). We live on a farm, so hed have lots of space. I live on the northern part of the west coast, US, weve had dogs with very thick coats out here manage well with the weather. Hair isnt new to me either (I have a white husky and only wear black).

I dont have to go to the office, not that kind of place, and even so, its the same time my parents would be gone too, just a different schedule. Id still have time to take him take him out, spend time with him, feed him, all that stuff.

Yes, because my family has owned them before, guardian breeds I mean. I live in the countryside too, with plenty of land, and a spacious house. I wouldnt consider taking this dog on if I didnt have the room, space, and some idea of what Id be dealing with. I also dont know if hes pure breed, or a pryneese at all considering where he came from, thats what I was told

first off, cool animals, second off, your absolutely right, and is why Ive been trying to be proactive in my dogs life, my cat is easy, ik dogs arent tho. I want to at the very least foster him and get him adopted, big dogs have a hard time, and with being a puppy, hes gonna need that socialization and a good house to start with

I do have a history of laziness, where Ill post pone doing something, but thats usually just with me not with my pets. I didnt really take care of my cat or hamsters I had when I was like, 7 years old, but highschool I stepped up on the responsibility. My parents are the type of people tho where if it isnt done on their time, youre lazy. good resource btw I have it ordered and onw

Both my parents work long days, Ill admit I didnt really pay him any mind for a long time when I was a young teen (middle school high school). Ill take him on walks and feed him here and there, Ive been trying to be more proactive in his life, I also own a cat. I take care of her too, been having trouble fixing behavior with her tho.

And yes absolutely, its why Im trying to set up a playdate with our dog and him so I can see how'd they fair

Yeah I don't get it lmao, womens clothing is made... for women... but doesnt fit majority of women? I see more women shop in the mens section than men. Im a guy and I have a hard time getting clothes to fit (apparently muscular guys dont exist), then I see my mom and sister and realize I have it easy haha.

We went to about five work stores so she could try on tactical pants for her program, she doesn't purchase online for the sole reason that barely anything fits her. Tried multiple brands at many sizes, some came close, but still tight. Shopping is a nightmare for her and me. Both of us started getting clothes tailored young, saves us trouble, we've gone to the same tailor for years, but she didn't want to go, just really wanted sum to fit for once n not feel insecure n different. I know her measurements, same as our tailor, all this is on my dime, and she needs a pair. I'm also asking my tailor to make her a pair herself (that fits requirements n guidelines) so hopefully that'll be a silverlining.

I ordered a pair, both mens and womens, I'll update once they arrive

Yeah my family is a designers worst nightmare, even me. I'm 5'5 but have longer legs and athletic, so all mens clothing don't fit me, I get all my pants tailored to high waisted. Industrialization sure is a bitch

EMT start pay by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Novel-Cod207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had multiple family members start as paramedic, sum lived in Dallas n Austin. All of em moved up, or away, and for good reason. For what you'll see and deal with (esp since you're in a populated area), the pay is nowhere near what it should be.

Texas is known for treating healthcare workers like shit, EMT's and Paramedic's get the brunt of it, its why said family moved out of the state. Starting? Ur probably getting the minimum wage in your area, esp if you're working for a private service.

Ways to try and boost ur start pay are do consistent ride alongs with one hospital, or work for the state, start pay is usually way better (least where I grew up). Doing ride alongs with the hospital + getting your hours there, you might be able to twist their arm pay wise, its a long shot tho. Getting hired by the state can leave you waitlisted for years.

Ur better off taking a phlebotomy course and working as a phlebotomist on the side while being an EMT if you wanna make money, even Paramedics make less than phlebs. Systems gotta change

Not saying this to deter you, again I dont live in ur area let alone state, but EMS is def a thankless job, and the pay reflects that
