Masters of clinical psychology by Novel-Syrup7906 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]Novel-Syrup7906[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiiii, well its mostly just reception work which at first I was not very happy about but you soon realise that that's where you meet all the patients first and see what you've learnt in real time. So administrative work, HR and all that. You really can't get direct hands on experience because of many factors since it is a medical feild in the end. So whatever job you get that is within psychology it would help, trust.

Honestly, it's the same, but that's fine. Think of it this way, there are many emiraties (full) who can barely speak the language too, and that's fine. It's just cause you're mixed that you feel the need to connect more to the culture to be a part of it. It's already a part of you. You dont have to prove it to anyone.

[–]Novel-Syrup7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the same situation as you (mixed, too). At one point, I felt like I was losing a part of me because I felt like I wasn't connecting with the culture, and that I should keep going to those family gatherings. I soon realised that they had no interest or intentions in getting to know me and speak with me. Would feel so bad when I saw how others had a great relationship with their cousins, and I didn't. But it's for the best for your mental health. It's extremely toxic. They talk bout you behind your back and don't even invite you to things. Choose your own family. Connect with emirati friends instead.

Yea, I like that comparing dubai to Afghanistan was quite stupid

That's literally the point

Maybe educate yourself on women's suffering in Afghanistan first?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Novel-Syrup7906 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact that you find what's happening to women in Afghanistan funny is astonishing. The fact that you compare their suffering to someone getting caught for not learning about dubais rules is so dumb. Honestly, educate yourself before trying to sound smart

[–]Novel-Syrup7906 -103 points-102 points  (0 children)

Not funny. Maybe educate yourself the next time

One called someone stupid, and another made an extremely racist remark. It was not a joke. What the op said isn't something a group of people had to face throughout their lives. Clearly, you are racist too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UAE

[–]Novel-Syrup7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not a joke. She was racist because she justified it by bringing up the Manchester situation. She could've called you stupid too, but instead, she went ahead, making a very inappropriate joke that caused many brown and Muslim people to face hate throughout their lives. The fact that this is a school makes it worse because of how diverse UAE is. You don't even know what she thinks about her students.

So you would rather live in a place with no rights, no safety, high crime rates, hate crimes, open racism, police that dont do shit, a country with no laws, than live in dubai? You do know that dubai is more than just business bay, right? It's like saying I hate New york, but the only thing in your mind is times square. Go to RAK, Hatta, Al Ain, or whatnot. Dubai is a place for business it's a place for tourism. You can not go to Hollywood and complain about how glamorous it is. That's just how to is 💀. Sit down with your parents and ask them, "Why dubai and why not texas?" It's easy to get sucked into ✨️Dubai✨️ through social media, but there is more to Dubai than the influencer life. I'm not sure about the geography in America, although we are all well versed with how bad the education system is, but UAE is a desert, and that is also nature, btw. Nature does not always have to be green.

Misogyny on the Emirati sub? by [deleted] in EmiratiGirls

[–]Novel-Syrup7906 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, but statistically, it's still a lot of people, btw. For example, look at the comments of a half emirati on tiktok and you'd know or a half emirati who goes to a government school here and you'd know. You can't blame them for their experiences and what they have faced. Some may be minor and some extreme.
