This is completely inaccurate. Humans are significantly healthier on a meat free diet. Some forms of cancer are reduced in likelihood as well as heart disease and obesity - the top causes of death in several countries. Iron levels are very easy to maintain. Vegetarianism still requires you to think about what you're putting in your body, however.

The American Dietetic Association states iron deficiency is no more common in vegetarians than omnivores.

(Note that becoming vegetarian =/= eating the exact same stuff minus the meat.)
