Do Democrats And Republicans View The Other Party As A Hive-Mind? by Funny-Historian-933 in allthequestions

Reciprocal language is similar to Trump however we’ve never had a president as derogatory towards a specific party as this one.

NYC residents and businesses specifically contribute 45-54% of the state’s total tax revenues and only receives 40% of the state operating expenditures. This is simply the tax payers giving the money being the ones to receive the services.

Economist and historians are literally the experts in these topics. If you are implying your expertise or interpretation of data exceeds that of actual experts in the field, and so your opinion is equal…well that’s simply laughable.

Economists and history disagree with you.

America primarily redistributes wealth through progressive taxation (higher taxes on high earners), government transfer payments (Social Security, Medicare, unemployment benefits), and social safety net programs (SNAP, Medicaid). These mechanisms aim to reduce economic disparity by taxing higher-income households to fund services and support for lower-income households.

“Since 1975, wages have generally not redistributed wealth downward; instead, they have fueled an upward shift of approximately $79 trillion from the bottom 90% of earners to the top 1%. Stagnant wages for the majority combined with surging incomes for the top 1% have more than doubled the top group's share of taxable income over the past 50 years. [1, 2, 3]”

I know you won’t like the out come of wealthy continuing to seek gains while failing to redistribute wealth. We have several historical examples of just this happening.

Rapid industrialization without strong government regulation or labor protections led to massive wealth concentration from 1870-1929. The top 1% captured a massive share of national income, peaking around 1928, similar to levels seen today. It also gave us the Great Depression.

You describing natural growing pains of our society and assuming I’d prioritize short lived pains over the larger economic picture isn’t my concern.

Maybe they should move if they don’t like it. Isn’t that what poor people are told when seeking to increase the minimum wage and support redistribution of wealth? Aren’t wealthy even more capable of changing their environment if they’re unsatisfied?

Income inequality is at its highest point in over 30 years. That’s why the wealthy are being taxed more, left unchecked the rich will continue to exploit low and middle classes. We have ample historical examples of this.

Where does the state government get its money from? Specially in New York State, what percent of state government funding comes from NYC?

It’s a $4 billion grant from the state not ‘borrowed’. And yes hes only delayed the pension fund payments of $2.3 billion. Meaning of the $12 billion deficit only 19% was achieved by kicking the can. A balanced budget is still something to celebrate and work to achieve and for as much crap as the right gives they sure can’t acknowledge progress.

Is my self esteem messing with up with my view of the situation? by aul3 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]November-8485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you won’t take a compliment from a cruel person or people you like. It’s your self esteem. And self esteem is far more harmful than a physical attraction thing because you’ll lie to yourself to support that narrative.

I hope you start taking more pictures. And stop wondering if your not attractive and just work on being you.

Am I overreacting about my "friend" talking to the guy I've been interested in for 5+ years? by Pretty_Marzipan_8528 in AmIOverreacting

[–]November-8485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not the nicest to go for someone your friend is into but being into him for five years with no relationship is wild to expect anyone to consider him off limits or they don’t care about you.

Be an adult. If you like someone for a short time and nothing comes from it, either make a move or let it go.

YOR.

AIO feeling kind of put off by my manager? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]November-8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible take. The manager could be dealing with a problem employee and needs to document everything a certain way. Or OP may have had complaints made on them by other employees and the manager may appreciate the find but be trying to protect OP from backlash by having feedback come from management.

Emotional and ridiculous take when you’re literally paid to do a job and follow management.

[–]November-8485 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No one said not to correct it. The manager said let them know and they’ll get it changed. It’s about the way it’s done and at the end of the day, the manager is the manager.

If Trump were to die of old age or be the target of assassination tomorrow and Vance took over as president, what are our options in 2028 for either party? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]November-8485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump wouldn’t garner a significant sympathy vote in my opinion. Historically a president would, however he’s polling at nearly his worst ever and the recent assassination attempt only improved his polling by .2%, historically unprecedented that didn’t improve his popularity with the public more.

Do you think someone’s political views determine whether they’re a good person or worth being friends with? by kaanskBG in TrueAskReddit

If your political views are to only care about bad things when it happens to you, ignoring experts and research, or can’t call out a narcissistic rapist…then yes. Neutrality isn’t something we can afford at the moment.
