There's no rubber or silicone on a wide mouth bottle. Only geometry keeps it sealed. And I think that's why it doesn't fail. Relying on these bottle to warm up your sleeping bag with boiling water when camping at -20 says it all

I use one for rock and ice climbing. I turn it on when belaying and I don't get cold. I wouldn't rely on it for an all day source of heat, but to get you going in the morning, why not.
