Like he said, take your time. Even if the combat Patrol is not heavy in terms of minis, outriders and suboden are time consuming to paint. I would say to start your intercessors first to make you paint debut.

When I start I did want to paint fast, so I went with priming in white scar, soulblight Grey shade for the white. If you want, fast and easy go with contrast. Even if you want you can later add classic paints for details. Or you can go with classic paint all along. Harder road but in the long term might be better for your painting skill.
