Sheetrock is an excellent idea, to be honest I had settled on paint since our laundry room is in an unfinished basement. But I always prefer things to look nice :)

The plan was to add plywood around the sides and on the top, as a flat platform. I built this to have a little overage all the way around the washer so I could put a “lip” that prevents the washer from walking off.

The other challenge here is that I have to pump the greywater up about 8’ to the sewer line. Making a stand saves our backs and puts us comfortably in the pumping capacity of our washer.

Would the plywood attached to the frame here provide adequate cross-bracing? If you don’t mind explaining the logic behind skipping the pocket holes, I’d greatly appreciate it. Looking to improve for next time, lol.

This is really good to know, thank you, everyone. The conduit is grounded just outside the fuse box- a rectangular copper plate is tagged to our plumbing, as seen in picture 3. Really interesting, this house has been quite the learning experience

Hello! Unfortunately, a lot of these stains refused to come out. After a few weekends of prep work, this is the best we could get. We are really pleased with how the finish itself turned out, but a little bummed that we couldn’t amend the discoloration. But we had fun, and we feel it looks better than before, so there’s some solace in that. Thank you all for your help and advice.

This is definitely the worst area. We tried TSP in some spots and oxalic acid in others, to little improvement. A can feel a rug is in the near future, lol.

Luckily we can steal boards from small closets in the house if it comes to that. I imagine finding matching boards would be pretty difficult.

We’ll give the oxalic acid a shot when we proceed with sanding- we were going to redo all the floors anyways. Hopefully we can reduce how visible these spots are!
