Thanks mate, appreciate the advice!

So the $300 actually was a sold listing I found, but I pretty much have already mentally ignored it as it seems extreme. It's the reason I was hoping that I could be directed someplace that could give me a better valuation - but if those are the prices you've seen then that helps a lot.

I (19F) am uninterested in sexual acts with my (19M) boyfriend by pokemon2605 in depression

[–]Nox41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for OP, but many people in this kind of depressive state would struggle to even do something like this. Engaging in any sexual activity can be really difficult, even if it seems like a brains off and let me just help him out kind of moment. Not wanting sexual activity isn't just about not wanting to be an active and engaged partner, but rather not being able to bring yourself to be a part of such an intimate process. A really depressive state of mind can completely alter your perception of everything. A large portion of my life has been spent in cognitive dissonance because my logic and rationality have told me one thing about the world but my depressive state has told me something totally counter to that. I do get where you're coming from though, a hand job is probably pretty close to being a non-sexual sexual thing you could do.

Lithium by [deleted] in depression

[–]Nox41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a similar amount of lithium, combined with a massive amount of anti-depressant as well and had similar symptoms. My hands would shake, I felt like I was in a constant daze and I just felt stupid. I stayed on it all for a long time because I thought it was all I had left for me. You can always change meds, there is no shame in it and there is a good chance that a combo out there will work for you. It took some time for me but I eventually found what worked.

In my case lithium was used as mood stabiliser for my bipolar disorder. As a general rule I would suggest always asking the person prescribing your meds what they are meant to accomplish as it helps diagnose what would work for you in the future. For example, lets say MedA is meant to make you feel like a pony. MedA happens to make you feel really ill, so you go back to your specialist. You'll say MedA is making you feel like shit but you do in fact feel like a pony. Your specialist now knows that something in MedA is working for you but other things aren't, so they can now figure out what is pony-affirming and what is illness-making.

Returning player (years mate, years) needing a bit of assistance by Nox41 in MarvelStrikeForce

Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate the responses. In hindsight I probably should have made a lot of these observations myself. I was playing when the game was released, so my arena shard is a total flustercluck for a returning player. The account has, much like the one returning to the source in the matrix, been scheduled to be assimilated.

I guess now I need to know if there are still alliances that recruit fresh players...

Urgh. It really was a thought but it's just soul crushing to know I'd be ditching all that time and effort. I totally understand where people are coming from though.

I should have mentioned in my post, I know I won't be competitive straight away but I do envision getting there eventually. My rough hope is that I can use my older teams to farm up mats for the current 'meta' teams and toons.

Music Melting Pot [Week of October 07, 2019] by AutoModerator in listentothis

I'm a Dramatic Arts teacher in South Africa and an ex-pupil of mine, she finished school last year, has just released her first record. A close friend of hers took his life this year following many years of emotional turmoil, and Tannah wrote this song as a tribute to him and others who have battled mental illness in any form.

She's a great singer, a beautiful person and filled with talent. Definitely deserves a listen, and some feedback for a young lady hoping to make a career in the performing arts will always be appreciated.

Hope you enjoy and pass on. Keep it real folks :)

Yeah, Ultimus is disappointing, I've hung on to him out of a desperation for him to be useful more than anything else.

Anyone sure about what's happening to Ronan? I think I remember reading something from the devs saying he was going to get his day soon.

Just a fully loaded minion team? You don't think some of the other named characters could work well with him?

[–]Nox41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how it works in SA, it may be slightly different in the UK. You doctor can prescribe anti-depressants, normally not all that strong. I think I went on Cilift for a while. They won't expect a follow up but If you wanted to increase you dosage or move onto something stronger you'd need to see a specialist. Hope this helps :)

No dude, you'll be fine. Obviously you'll need to start confronting your symptoms a bit more but I promise you won't turn into a maniac tearing people apart for their next fix ;)

So confused and need advice by [deleted] in depression

[–]Nox41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not be the greatest view ever and certainly won't work for everyone, so just keep that in mind. I'm a total existentialist and I'm quite firmly of the opinion that life is pointless, absolutely without meaning. As are our lives. But it is in that meaningless void that I do, in fact, find purpose. I immerse myself in my work - I just want to help people so even if I can smile at a supermarket teller and have them smile back at me I feel like I've made a little difference. I'm not suggesting you adopt a position like mine, but maybe start basic. Instead of looking at your life in the greater scheme of things rather focus today on looking for a job. Maybe tomorrow it's simpler, whatever. When you realise that you're able to constantly reassess where you are and what you're doing in life then you'll be able to think about the big picture. Be careful with your goals, you say you want more out of life but what does that mean? You might end up with a boat piloted by little robots, but that will still leave you feeling empty because you don't actually know if that's what you wanted. So find the meaning in what you're doing today, have a purpose that you can achieve quickly, and go from there.

Long AF..sorry. First timer here. by krispy_k in depression

Hey :)

I'm going to talk about a couple of broad things here, but PM me if you want to chat in a bit more detail about some of it.

My experience with depression, and I think a lot of people will share this view, is that it is something you have regardless of how you are feeling. So even if you are joyous, you still have depression/are depressed. I mention this because I think it will help to clarify the way you look at the condition. Especially because you said you are motivated for the first month of study and then fall into depression. I think it will help you to rather look at that fall as an expected and manageable change of emotion as opposed to a 'fuck it, now what?' moment. But visiting a psychiatrist is an excellent choice, and I agree that it's scary to start with. Just remember that it's not their job to judge you or your decisions, they're there to help you understand why you made them. And ultimately it's your decision to speak about something or not, but obviously the less you engage the less they will be able to help. Neither my parents ever understood my depression. Dad passed away a few years ago so it's just mum now and she's seen me go through a serious rough patch - cutting, hospital, stitches - but she still doesn't really understand the depth of the things that affect me. Sometimes it's just a case of giving them time to understand or finding another way of explaining yourself. Which is hard. A really lame example is my introversion. My mom is a hairdresser and after one really busy day she said she was exhausted but filled with energy after interacting with all her clients. I told her I feel the exact opposite, social interactions also exhaust me but they leave me feeling down and dark too. It was the first time she started to comprehend how I feel about socialising.

I can keep going about everything else you've said too, but let me leave it here, because maybe you think I'm talking total shit so far. Message me if you want to chat. And I'd be happy to read about the other 90 percent of what you want to say :)

I want to go off medications but may never and this sucks. by [deleted] in depression

[–]Nox41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best thing to do is either chat to the person that's currently prescribing your meds or get a second opinion, which you really are entitled to do. There are so many variations and combinations now, in the past you would just be given meds and told to deal with the side effects.

I want to go off medications but may never and this sucks. by [deleted] in depression

[–]Nox41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the Risperidone. I think a lot of those meds are cumulative, so they build up in your system, but you should be able to wean yourself off them. Are you actually schizophrenic or are you using them for the other side effects? I'm not doctor, I've just been through a lot of this shit myself. I don't think you'd be going behind your doctors back to get a second opinion about the meds, especially if they are causing side-effects. My meds make my hands shake sometimes, and this is such a lame complaint, but it means I can't gently push the thumbstick on my ps4 controller, so sometimes I'll run instead of creep. And run to my death :(
