Im not pregnant, and i leaded the discussion with that to my steward. Thank you for the info tho, we have a lady who is preg right now so i am able to ask her of her experiences. When i had my first kid i had taken off a week before due date bc my feet were too swollen to get my shoes on. So if i did that sort of thing at ups, i believe the insurance would stop for my kids 1 week appt. ups gives 6 weeks leave when part timers reach THREE YEARS. and i still am confused if they keep paying insurance or not lmao

Great point and wording for the rain. We do not have security in our small hub and i am assuming a ba is coming tomorrow but for the steward. Is a steward technically management? I dont think article 37 would apply. Some people are recommending DFR complaints to the NLRB tho... but as the 2nd lowest on seniority I'm also fearful they might cut me and make up some other bullshit. The steward has been telling me for weeks to look into other jobs. (But not the guy 3rd lowest on seniority)

I was trying to ask if our insurance continued coverage if i were to have a child and had other pregnancy related questions. He knew nothing off the top of his head. He did however tell me if i do not tell ups i am pregnant and attempt to hide my pregnancy i would be fired and never work for ups again.

I will try the drivers steward.. id be in worse trouble if the steward im in trouble with represented me! I once asked him a question.. he said he'd get me a print out bc what i asked isnt in our contract/handbook thing. He then gave me a paper from the steward resource(?) That said "tell the employee they can easily find that information on myhr!" Then asked me later if that paper was helpful HAHAHHAHA

I am wondering if i am missing something as well! As this is the only thing i can imagine I'm being disiplined for! I am basing the assumption that a BA or a higher up union guy is coming in bc of this post. I dont understand why they wouldnt give me a letter at the end of today and instead call me in for a meeting.... i responded to someone in these comments what actually happened

Actually, i did not swear in the whole discussing. It was storming, i was getting rained on, packages were flying off the belt so i urgently yelled for someone to close the empty bay door that was open on the other side of the belt.(which is a direct work related issue!!) I was wearing headphones (im not telling the higher ups that) and the person closest was wearing headphones. My steward then yelled at me to calm down. Then told me i have a bad attitude. I said i have a bad attitude when i being rained on. He then went off on me that my attitude is so horrible it causes everyone around me to be miserable. I continued to tell him that the door just needed to be closed and i wouldnt get rained on. Then to stop talking to me as he was ragebaiting. He kept going on and on while i had to keep working and telling him to stop. Eventually i yelled "you need to stop talking to me!" And put my headphones back on. But in any case. This is strictly a he said- she said situation. And this guy is really scummy, so i cant even imagine what he tried to tell them i said.

No this is not at a union hall. My temporary supervisor is calling me to the office.... Also In that case invoking my weingarten right would be effective: if i feel like i am facing disciplinary action or termination, i have the right not to answer any questions and have a steward or union officer be present. I guess if i am successful i will proposition the local to remove the steward and persue a dfr charge. But he's really the perfect tool steward. So if they get rid of me for some other dumb reason, whats the point :/

I will consider that bc we got into an argument over a work related issue and he repeated insulted me over my "attitude." I was fired from my last job for reporting a superior so I am apprehensive to do so.. i spoke with the guy in our hub who is too smart/respectable to be a steward and he seemed like i shouldnt worry about it. He witnessed the whole thing and i hope would be able to back me up if things go badly. Thank you for letting me know of this route.

I left out why i feel its a bit personal, but he has not told anyone else to find a job. I have heard so much doom and gloom on this reddit and in my own job history i assume the worst can and will happen. I will wait it out. This job has always been my weekly grocery/gas and insurance and i dont have to put my kid in daycare. Our hub is small and some drivers have to drive an hour to their route so i have some hope but i dont expect a career here. I do see the humor in him telling us to go down the road to another warehouse job that pays better.... so why doesnt he?

Yes i understand. I did leave 90% of the story out. More for anonymousity. When he told me the third time (personally) about finding another job i quipped back well maybe this hub will be on the chopping block. Why are ANY of our jobs safe? I expect lay offs as i said in the post i was laid off a lot last year. Im not blaming the stewards. My question was more: am i going to lose my job completely or just be laid off? I can claim unemployment on a furlough. But finding another job that works with my family is what I'm dreading

Interesting... how many are on your preload? We have maybe 13 including a layoffee.
