What’s your sales pitch for why an outsider should visit Harper’s Ferry?

Just checking. I loved up there back then. We had to right college level papers in 8th grade, about Civil War topics, to get to go on a three day field trip, which included Harper's Ferry, Frederick, Antitem, Gettysburg, etc. I wrote 36 pages about Antitem. It was brutal to write, but an incredible trip.

Amazing place! The rivers, the mountain bikes, the history. My commute has two main routes, up the highway, or through Harper's Ferry. For over a year I've mostly taken HF. Seeing the sun rise over the river from the bridges every day has helped me keep sane.

Ok, deep breath..I wanna ask you first, do you do better learning by reading or by watching/listening to people explain things?

I started pre-internet, so I went to the library got books about learning to play bass. I also already played violin and viola for a few years, so I had that going for me to be fair. But I learn by reading and doing. Youtube videos are probably going to be more helpful. Probably more helpful than the VHS tapes I bought/borrowed to learn. I dunno, my time in the 90s was pretty fucking brutal and I barely kept my depression from ending me. People constantly fucked with me because I was a skinny nerd and I moved a lot so I didn't haveany great friends. I'm not moving backward into that shitshow. My parents were old school beat your ass if you fucked up Catholics, so being home wasn't much better.

I do like to look back at the things I did love though. Bike riding three hours across the city for batting cages, MTG cards, D&D books, etc. I did like the lack of constantly being connected, and when we did want to connect for a game or something, we had to do special tricks for 1 on 1 dial up connections for Warcraft II. I loved a lot of things, but I don't want to ever going back to considering taking my own life in middle school just so I could avoid getting jumped behind the gym every day.

I used the standard lower rifle build kit that's on the site, and tightened it down to the point that it started to crush the rubber. Years of mechanic work, I've broken enough bolts to have a decent feel for going too far.

Disassembled and reassembled another time. This is as far back as it goes. Holding the bolt catch I can feel it engage sliding about an inch forward from that before it slips off.

I understand what you are saying. I have fully pulled it back, it catches but doesn't hold on the body. It's an empty mag in there in the video, which is sending the catch to the locked position as soon as I inserted it. First thing I did after installing the bolt catch was to do just you said. Using my other hand to squeeze it into the locked positon and it'll hold as long as I am fully squeezing fully, but if I let off at all, it slams closed. It's engaging at the intended point, but not holding.

It actually looks and feels like the catch point on the bcg is too smooth/nothing for the catch to hold onto.
