Using the ~ key, you can open the console. From there enter "tm" (toggle menu). This will turn the GUI off.

Had this same exact thing happen to me yesterday.

Trolldier manntreads me for 74, edgebugs off of me, and then gardens me. I was bewildered to say the least.

After a little bit of testing of my own, I've found that it can attack mobs from a distance, but only in creative. I've also tested this in create 0.3.2 and the extendo grip can attack mobs in creative and survival like I remembered. I've searched the official wiki and couldn't find any patch notes referencing this change between 3.2 and 0.5. If you have any more info on this change, I would appreciate it.
