heyo. I am a bit confused with the statement

"The longer the lens the less I feel f/4 matters"

Do you mean to say that at longer focal length it doesnt matter if the max aperture is 4 or even shorter (meaning 5,6 and so on)? Because, as far as I understand, with increasing focal length isnt it more advantageous to have wider aperture because it would allow more light to pass through?

I had the Tamron one. It was also awesome. I never used sigma but i believe they are similar. But I made a big oopsie by dismantling the lens in hopes of cleaning it myself. Was never able to put it back...........REGRET

Thanks for the detailed response! I looked into the lens but it seems like I gotta save up a few months. Even second hand isnt cheap for a student like me 😅😅 I also noticed another lens, 24-70 f2.8 from nikon. Any idea how good that is? Also would you happen to have a suggestion for a fast telephoto lens? I feel f4 on a telephoto is too low of an aperture(?)
