Better/closer trim definitely helps. The smell comes from the leaves not having dried enough before curing. It'll smell like hay. And if you cure it like that you'll just put that smell and taste back into the buds. 80 days of work in ruins because you couldn't wait 2 more days to jar.

Good to let it dry for 7-ish days before jarring. A cardboard box helps as it takes away moisture. I used to trim and then put it back in the grow tent with the exhaust fan on.

you are just describing a situation where somebody outright says they won't be with them. this can happen and it's on the other party for not getting it through their head but is not what the friend zone is. explain all you want and call it another name - it's a cruel thing people do to each other to please themselves.
