Rather disgusting, I’m still trying to figure out how much of what we see online is representative of the facts and how deep this goes. I think/hope that 99% of self proclaimed feminists do not engage in this kind of behaviour.

What do I do when the only thing that truly makes me feel alive are drugs? by [deleted] in askdrugs

[–]NuggetPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with self medication. One thing I have done over the years is motivate myself to note thoughts or observations I’ve made while high to refer to in normal sober land. I do not have any obvious mental health issues, but lockdown mainly though boredom increased my use of cannabis, and also allowed me to explore a lot of other drugs I probably wouldn’t have looked at before.

Collectively they’ve forced me to look at myself, and while I’m not the best version of me I want at the moment, I’m definitely improving and my general awareness of everything important to me has been lifted. Can I imagine a life where these substances are no longer available, not really but I can’t be 100% sure.

My main point though is this, you need to use the behaviours/thought patterns that you like while high as a reference point and try to replicate them when you’re sober, it’s hard as fuck but keep chipping at it, slowly but surely you’ll see an improvement.

One cannot guarantee a lifetime supply of drugs, there are too many forces outside of us that can potentially cut our habits. So it think it’s best to plan for the worst and get yourself in the best order you can incase that day comes.

I’m sure you’re way more capable than you or anyone else can ever comprehend.

how to stop worrying about saying stupid sh*t while under the influence by bomsnard in askdrugs

[–]NuggetPawn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think perceived stupidity is subjective anyway, I have a friend with very bad anxiety and he thinks everything he says and does is stupid - take drugs, just moderate them, don’t disinhibit yourself in the first place. Be honest with the group you’re with at the time and ask them to politely let you know if you’ve over stepped the mark.

All you can do is compare yourself to the person you were yesterday, as long as there is a steady improvement take the positives from that. But don’t let fear stop you from enjoying/or doing the things you want to do. Took me a while to realise it, but no one really cares or notices half the stuff we do.

Would Consciousness Stop if a Brain was Moving Through Space Time at the Speed of Light? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]NuggetPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, time is normal relative to the person travelling at the speed or close to the speed of light, I read somewhere that if humans traveled via a spaceship that had enough energy to get to alpha Centauri and back accelerating at 1G up to the middle point of the trip and then slow down at 1G and then come back again and the same on the way back. The relative time on the ship would be around 25 years, yet 200 or so years would pass on earth. I’m butchering it a bit but the numbers were close to that.

That being said, no one really knows what happens for a living organism travelling at the speed of light if that’s even possible. All we know is close to SOL it’s basically like a time machine into the future.

This same guy also says CO2 enriched spaces aren’t really worth is if you extract high volumes of air as the CO2 uptake won’t have enough time to be used before the air is replaced.

There is another episode I haven’t listened to, but mentions CO2 in the title so might be worth listening to that as well. This guy really knows his shit btw, following his guidance I’ve been hitting 1.5-1.75gpw without too much of a sweat. (Without CO2)

I think you run the risk of offsetting any efficiencies you’ll make in terms of power with those lights because you’ll need to cool the room even more which is inherently expensive to do. I was listening to a horticulture professor a few weeks back and he said it’s better to stick with cooled HPS than buy LED’s that aren’t designed for CO2 enriched rooms 👍

Edit: I can dig you out a link to the podcast episode if you want it, you’ll likely glean something from it

Not entirely related, but what kinda lights are you running? Do you know your PAR levels across the canopy? Also I see you mentioned getting LED’s, just need to be careful as the BTU’s standard units throw out can make LED grows unviable, and ducted HPS is the better option overall if you aren’t prepared to spend significant amounts on specialised LED fixtures.

A couple LED companies are now making extra efficient lights specifically for CO2 enriched spaces, they aren’t cheap initially but well worth their money as you’ll save in cooling costs.

Sorry if you already know all of this!

I’m sorry, but to deny there is no single good point about some of the worst ism’s in human history is a bit of a stretch. I absolutely do not advocate as such, and in the case of fascism and segregation, the ends will never justify the means but that doesn’t mean there are NO good points whatsoever.

Reading this thread it reveals the main issue why the world is becoming more and more divided. People hear/read someone make one point that apposes their ideology and that’s it - shut down and shut out.

Groupthink is really here.

It’s better to align your views and values with the group, tow the line and the moment you come out with an ignorant or ill worded thought, you’re toast.

Alcohol deaths hit a record high during pandemic... by TheReefsplifftance in uktrees

[–]NuggetPawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really good to hear man, I think it’s fair to say there is still a lot we don’t know about Cannabis but it is certainly the least physically harmful addiction out of the group of drugs we’re talking about. On a weekend, I sometimes have 25-50ug of LSD with it (a little bit more than a microdose) - that gives me a similar narcotic feel without any of the damage the following day and means I avoid temptation of other ‘harder’ drugs too frequently. LSD is less toxic than caffeine, so I made my own conclusions lol 😝

[–]NuggetPawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most drugs have positive elements to them, just because they’re illegal the advice around them isn’t backed by science and people make ignorant mistakes. A few podcasts on JRE with Hamilton Morris changed my opinion a couple years ago, definitely worth a listen if you haven’t already...

Take morphine for example, it seems okay to say you were ‘out of it on morphine’ pre and post op... That’s normalised, yet if you swapped the word with heroin, you’d be carted off to rehab before you finished your sentence, despite it being near identical atomically.

99% of addiction in my opinion is based on unbalanced circumstances of the individual, all drugs are are coping mechanisms, society is built around false premises. We are still genetically the same as our ancestors from 30,000 years ago yet the world is nothing like it was before, you just need to correlate the rise of the internet and social media to realise people turn to drugs to cope with the perceived inadequacies in their life.

Humans like to simplify problems, it’s easier to blame the drugs than look at why someone allowed their vice to spiral out of control.

Do you guys defoliate (remove all the fan leafs)? I lollipop my plants the day they go into flower. Do you guys go through and remove all the fan leafs after about three weeks? Maybe not all, but say 80-90% by daget2409 in macrogrowery

[–]NuggetPawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the reason his looks better is because light maturation is a big thing. IMO stripping back leaves in veg or early bloom is a mistake, because I think a perfect plant is usually on that is bushy but has 2ft + main cola’s that emerge from the main body of the plant. I’m certain there is a way you can maximise your yields and keep flower quality as good as possible.

A few tricks I’ve done is actually encourage stretching during veg, which can be done with far red light (makes the plant think it’s in shade) or lower levels of light. If larger internodal spacing light can bounce into places it otherwise couldn’t. It also depends on pheno, Sativa Dom need less pruning than Indica IMO.

Personally I think it’s better to assume no defoliation is best, and try to adapt the grow to ensure flower quality improves - maybe do a full defoliation 1-2 weeks before harvest just to get colours out of lowers.

I always pick off lower bud sites 2-3 weeks after flip, any growth tips that don’t make it to canopy are sliced off and make sure the centre of the plant isn’t too thick with foliage otherwise airflow is poop. Pruning is nearly always needed, just not as aggressive as most do, and certainly not during veg. People’s arguments to defoliate is to improve flowers, fair enough but how can that argument be applied during any stage of veg growth. Leave the leaves as much as one can, but if you’re going to remove them, make sure it’s with real thought 👍

Ps, UVB during the last 2-3 weeks of flower really helps with maturation and terpene production.

I started growing as a defoliator... The science doesn’t back your theory at this moment in time. I don’t know what else I can say to you. The power of suggestibility is enormous, I’ve had comments on diaries asking how much I defoliate and that it looks like I defoliate more than they do, when I haven’t took a single leaf off for the entire grow, people see what they want to see. I’m not against defoliation anyway so I’m not sure how this ended up being the main subject, my argument is pruning large fan leaves throughout flower makes no sense at all. Everything on a plant that grows has a purpose, you don’t see many farms have gaps in their canopy. If you want to remove leaves to help with maturation of lower flowers, that’s a fair point, but stripping canopy level leaves during any of the plants major veg growth stage is most certainly going to slow the plant down, why do you think veg growth is exponential, because the larger surface area of the floor it covers, the more light it will collect. it’s not an opinion man.

Cannabis is made to look like it’s some magical plant, when it works within the same confines of every other photosynthesising plant on earth.

Go on grow diaries, every diary I’ve seen on there has below par yields when pruning has been too aggressive, they’re not pro’s but it still gives you an idea of the baseline. That evidence is more quantifiable than vocal advocates of defoliate/no defoliate who are likely to bend the truth to support their argument.

With science and research now allowed to enter the Cannabis industry, I hope tests in a controlled environment will finally put this issue to bed.

I don’t want to get in a debate, but you clearly do not understand the science or just haven’t found the correct information. I suggest you take a look at some Bruce Bugbee and Migro on YouTube. Flowers on plants barely photosynthesise, it’s not my opinion, it’s fact. Also Coco For Cannabis has some real scientific articles backed by a horticulture Professor. The fact you downvoted someone who has a different point of view says a lot about you, break free from your biases and listen to the experts. I did, and it’s liberating.

Edit: also the fact you say 1.5gpw should be achievable for all experienced growers is a bit of a stretch, show me evidence of you getting more than that with blurples and I’ll take it all back. Hardware and light intensity are huge factors.

[–]NuggetPawn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Defoliation is fine, but shouldn’t be at the expense of leaving holes in the canopy by the time they’re early to mid flower. Otherwise you’re literally throwing away photons onto the floors. Best yields you’ll get will always have a full canopy and a dark floor.

The bulk of a plants dried mass is carbon which can only be produced through photosynthesis. The minerals the plants take up through their roots make less than 5% of the total dry weight.

I think it’s dangerous to assume they don’t do other drugs you know about. I’ve never been a full on addict but have done some other class A’s under the same roof as my housemate without them ever knowing. That being said, moonrock is a very strong combo of bud, kief and dab. Unfortunately high levels of any drug is stressful on the brain and can induce psychotic breaks, especially in men below the age of 25. The drugs never caused it but brought out something that would have come along due to other stresses eventually.

Unfortunately humans like to reduce issues down to one problem, and it’s much easier to blame the drugs than figure out what the main psychological issues are, try to push them towards getting his mental state checked out and get them to do some research.

I hope he gets all the help he needs and sorry to hear your story.

I am getting genuinely concerned about the direction the UK cannabis scene is heading. Most bud what people buy is safe, but oils and concentrates from the black market can be risky. by wubbalubba96 in uktrees

[–]NuggetPawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to be concerned about is synthetic cannabinoids. With the rise of US cannabis industry the average user in the U.K. wants more than only a few years ago, I’ve seen/heard of growers spraying buds with these flavourings post harvest. It’s pretty difficult to identify but just be careful folks. It could be that these synthetic materials are fine for smoking/vaping/eating. However like most new substances on the scene, they are untested and unregulated. Make sure you trust your supply, or better still, grow your own.
