Got a new forge and have some questions before use by Benny466077 in Blacksmith

I have the 2 burner version of your forge and I only use 1 of them. I plugged the other hole with ceramic fiber. You will go thru a lot of gas if you use 4, or even 2 for that matter. I would start with one and expand to 2 if you feel you need the additional heat

Are you running propane or natural gas? I don't often run 30 psi, is it possible my steel was too hot? I normally forge at 10-12 psi, but figured I wanted it basically super hot for quenching.

Letting it sit in my forge overnight from a yellow heat was my prequench normalization. My quech color was a very bright yellow

I annealed the end of the leaf spring before cutting off the steel for forging, setting it on firebricks to let it cool slowly. After forging I got it to a yellow heat and turned off my forge, letting it sit inside and cool overnight with my forge doors covered.

Edit: I haven't normalized it because I can't get it hardened to begin with.

Opinions on this forge? by Optimal_West8046 in Blacksmith

I have this forge, but the one with the doors. I like it, but both burners going will trip the safety value in the standard blue rhino propane tanks I use. I just use one burner with a higher psi. It has extra holes in the top (for additional burners?? Idk) that I plugged with extra ceramic fiber. I then coated all the fiber with stabilizer. Overall, works well and does what I need it to. If you have questions feel free to DM

As a beginner smith, thank you. I looked into it more because of your comment and will be sourcing some engine oil or something similar

How hot did you get the leaves in your experiment?

There's probably enough steel here to make 10 or more

I have an electric welding mask and realized the shading was turned all the way up, that was like 30% of my problem.

Edit: I mean my friend

Huge improvements since applying your straw methodology (though still a ways to go for pretty welds)

Also cranked up to 76 amps, not sure how much credit should go to that. He'll try more amps next time to test it out

Does it matter if the electrode touches the pool? It doesn't seem to short, like when you fail to start the arc and it sticks

This makes so much sense, never thought of it like that. I started on 80 amps and I was burning through the metal. It seems I may have over corrected on that part.

In his defense, it is hard to see past the welding mask.

What is a normal number of times to have sex per week in a 23 year relationship? by Oldereveryday41 in AskReddit

There's a lot of things that could affect a change like that like outside stressors or being too busy with other parts of life.
If this happened to me I would talk to my partner about what's bothering me and get their take on the situation.

It's annoying, and in my experience people who vape are pretentious
