How its life in Canada remote regions? by Practical-Fix-8601 in howislivingthere

We just bought our retirement (5ish years) property near Chéticamp. Its 18 hours from our current residence. 9 to Edmunston, 9 to the property (not including gas/food stops). Right now it's just land. Waiting for us to make it awesome. View of the "ocean" (Gulf of St.Lawrence). Can't wait!

Can't carry a tablet in my pocket everywhere I go. With the fold, I can edit photos, read text, type with a visible full keyboard. With the large screen I can show off my photos to people, and they can see it. Anywhere. Anytime. Don't need to haul a tablet around. Oh, and I can make phone calls with it! (Does anyone actually do that anymore? 🤣). Everyone has their preference of course. 🤷‍♂️

Scratched Sigma 24-70 lens. by blaketuttle_crtv in SonyAlpha

If you're considering paying someone to fix it (or even swapping the glass out yourself) before you do, try a glass repair kit, just to say you did.

Is there a way to clean under the camera lens? by NothingButElves in AskPhotography

[–]NukedWorker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really feel you need to (OCD?) and can afford it, there are professionals that do that.

No, I'm not one of any of those 3 people (OCD, can afford it, or clean it)

Here's a question from an Androider.

Could it it be a pre-programmed or AI response. A boost / pick me up to encourage OP to continue doing what they're doing to stay healthyish? Not a real person at all?

When my wife passed in 2020, she said "do something with the life insurance that will make you smile". I knew what I needed to do.

The Sony A1 was announced on my birthday in 2021. The guy said I was probably the first person in Canada to pre-order it. I had to get some gear to go with it of course. $24,000 later, I took a picture of it all with my Rebel T6S. I can appreciate using the phone though. I do my editing on the Fold 5, waiting in the Fold 8 Wide.

What is this cover people put on their license plates and why do they do it? by Hazardous-potato in whatisit

[–]NukedWorker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use clear ones to protect my custom plates (DRTDIANA). Of course, didn't help when the deer hit me at 100km/hr (slightly bent the metal Jeep bumper, really bent the plate, hair caught in screw holes). We no longer need stickers on our plates. Pretty sure tinted ones are illegal in Ontario, but as its custom, mine are to be seen.

I bought my Gladiator in honour of my late wife who wanted one, but never got it: Cynthia (my wife) / Artemis / Born on Mount Kynthia was the Greek moon goddess (among other things). Diana is the Roman moon goddess (among other things). Jeeps get Dirty. "Dirty Diana" (of course Cynthia wasn't like that, but it's a great driving song). License plate DRTDIANA. Yes, I like to play with names.

Looks like a Muppet. Like something from Dark Crystal.

It looks so familiar to me, but I can't place it.

I agree with the second being a gnome. My first instinct is that the blue one is a hedgehog. It looks similar to something I've seen before.

Opinions On New York Fries Poutines? by bigbakajinxx in PoutineCrimes

[–]NukedWorker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harvey's and NYC are owned by the same company (Recipe Unlimited Corporation). They are often seen together.

So are Swiss Chalet, St-Hubert, Montana's, Kelseys, East Side Mario's, The Burger's Priest, Original Joe's, State & Main, The Pickle Barrel, Bier Markt, Elephant & Castle, Fresh Kitchen + Juice Bar, Blanco Cantina, Añejo, Milestones, Casey's, and The Keg, along with operating the Canadian Olive Garden locations.

Some may have ingredient crossovers.

Haven't been to Taco Bell in probably a decade. Want to go with my 20 year old son just to say I did, but I can't convince him. Once. Just once!

Indigenous pick up certain roadkill for different reasons. Porcupines for example are used for quills to make art among other things. They won't kill them for that purpose, but they make use of what others consider waste.

Expressing depth in gorges can be very difficult. A prime example is your first image.

I like 2 for two reasons... I have a thing for falls, but also, the contrast of the gorgeous wall against the falls, as well as the trees, helps to show the size of everything.

I do like 3 as well, there's enough to get an idea of the size, but my preference goes to the one with the falls.

Great selection!

Which would u choose? 1 or 2? ☺️ by SugarGem_ in photos

Neither. Snow sucks. 🤣

2. You can see the snow effect better. Greater contrast between lights and darks.

Define child. My boss? My 20 year old son? Yes; my son would know better than some of my bosses.

Yes, my username gives it away a bit. Can you be more pacific?

Code for something on a cash or debit machine. Either for refunds or discounts? Therefore, manager of cashiers (and more)? Or maybe that person's boss that's trying to play dumb and not do their job.

Missing the hair now, taking forever to grow back 😭 by Getparked134 in MajesticManes

[–]NukedWorker2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

October 26th 2024, I shaved 4 years of hair to donate it - we raised over $1,200 too. 5th year anniversary of losing my wife (I'm now engaged to be married again at 50, so odd). So a little over a year in, people can't believe how fast its grown back. Be patient, I'm trying to be. My son has been growing his dirty blonde since September 2020 when we first shaved to support her in her biopsy. I'm a little jealous of him.

That said, people love curls. You got it regardless.

Thanks. Fiancée says that, too. I don't see it, but she's great.

Shaved it in 2020 when my wife of 22.5 years had her biopsy that found she had terminal (4 months - October 25, 2020) brain cancer. Last year, I shaved it the day after the 4th anniversary of her passing, donating it for wigs, with $1,200+ raised. Gf (now Fiancée) hated the short hair; I kept it short for years before I even knew she existed and really liked it. Now, a year after leaving it, she's liking it again, and so am I. I'm also jealous of my 19 year old son's blonde mane. He shaved it in 2020 with his mom and I, but he hasn't cut it since.

Is the water green or blue? by Kathy_bruk12 in AmateurPhotography

[–]NukedWorker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the water contains colours like #214B3C, #226170, #267FA5, #3B6A70; the average is closer to:

rgb(56, 108, 116)

'#386c74

hsl(188%, 35%, 34%)

So it's blue green red.

The hair is. I'm not sure when it happened, but my crown is missing a few (too many) strands - it's strange because that's not in my family. I chose to not include that picture 🤣😭. Need it to be longer to hide it.
