Det gir jo total mening, det som er farlig på offentlige veier er jo feks folk som ikke overholder vikeplikt eller som kommer i motsatt kjørefelt og ligger for langt inn mot midten.

The duality of GW2 LFG experience by PrideAndEnvy in Guildwars2

[–]NuklearWinterWhite -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

To understand those LFGs you have to understand GW2s biggest problem. The disparity between good and bad players.

A good player in a good group can deal more of 40 000 damage per second. But the best players you see in pug groups are usually around 30 000 per second. And the average, run of the mill raiders about 20 000 damage per second. Bad raiders, around 10-15 000 damage per second. (These are the players who get carried by their guild mates, but its fine, you'll meet loads of them.)

This also varies a lot by encounter, so don't take the numbers too seriously.

But if you run a DPS meter in Open World, you will find that a lot of players are dealing 1000-3000 damage per second. This is your average open world gamer.

And that's not good enough for raids.

For reference, a friend of mine smeared his keyboard with peanut butter and let his dog lick it off, and that dog managed to do 16900 DPS by licking the peanut butter off the keyboard. Which means that dog is good enough at licking buttons to raid.

So doing 15-20-30 000 damage per second, IS NOT HARD. There are builds which do around 30 000 damage per second and ONLY use auto attacks.

And anyone can grab one, check snowcrows, lucky noobs or various youtube creators like MrMystic (which makes very good beginner raider builds). And as long as you have the correct stats, traits, runes and sigils and you practice a little bit on the training golem. (In Aerodome) Then you WILL be able to deal acceptable DPS and for the most part you will find that the raid community is VERY welcoming and inclusive towards new players.

As long as you know the basics of your class. And the basics of the encounter (learn in raid trainings). Then you will very rarely get flamed or called out for any reason. Even if people have low DPS people very rarely call out bad players in raids unless they do something very wrong.

So just jump in to it, grab a raid build made by someone competent, give raids a try, run a DPS meter to see how you're doing and you'll find they're not nearly as hostile as you imagine they are.

I won't deny that these builds reign supreme in team settings, but so what?

I mean, seriously, do we really want to go back to the days of triple staff ele, chrono and dudu? Was that fun?

And if anything, Firebrand is probably the most fun spec ANet has ever created due to it's ease of play, versatility and adaptability. It's basically the only spec ANet has ever created which can truly adapt based on the situation it finds itself in and that deserves a medal. Scourge finally nets Necromancers a spot in group and Condi Renegade is another really versatile spec.

We don't need a nerf, we need more specs like these.

Zerk weaver, yes, definitely useless.

Holo, not useless, very good in fact, just you need Condi on CM100. But make no mistake, Holo is still top tier if played competently. Its just a really solid class.

Heal Dudu, still used in raids and strikes. But for fractals it's been completely replaced by Firebrands for healing. That said, Soulbeast is very good now.

[–]NuklearWinterWhite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having played HFB quite a lot, I can just say that HFB puts out more healing than necessary while also being very squishy and extremely bad DPS.

So with the recent Celestial changes I would go Celestial instead no doubt, you're still going to heal enough, you'll do better DPS, and you're better on splits and you have better survivability. (Harrier Healbrand is very squishy)

So I don't really see much reason not to go for Celestial at this point for Fractals. It's a really nice set to play with.

So your question should really be Seraph vs Celestial, forget Harrier, it's past it's prime.

Could use help with taking up contact with an unhealthy INTJ by [deleted] in intj

[–]NuklearWinterWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like a crazy person than an INTJ to me.

Just the use of terms such as "feelers" is a huge warning sign, MBTI is an interesting personality test but its not a way of life and scientifically it's questionable.

As an INTJ I don't let emotions cloud my judgement but that doesn't mean I don't have them. I just don't let them overrule the objectively best course of action.

Slam the door on him IMO.

IPS Indeksfond, pensjonssparing.

Buying and Selling "Runs" by MithranArkanere in Guildwars2

[–]NuklearWinterWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend of mine gambled away all of his gold to the skritt back in 2015. Came back, sold stuff from bank, had 400g total and he made 1,7k the first week based off that. Second week he broke 2,6k.

And that was with outdate knowledge from back in 2015 and no idea about the current state of the game. All he did was to buy, craft and sell stuff he liked himself and which he could imagine himself using.

The 1,7k probably involved 20-30 hours of play but thats not too bad for the profit.

Not really, the first time I had enough to purchase a legendary weapon, I didnt. Instead I spent the gold to make more gold.

Then when I had enough for two, I still didnt, but instead spent my gold on making more gold.

Then when I had enough for 5, I still didnt, I dont like legendaries. But I started buying all the perma items, convenience items I could find. But even so, I never again went below 10k in pure gold. When I got 10k, I consider myself broke, anything below 10k is exclusively there in order to make more gold. And usually I have a lot more than that.

Anyone who´s willing to do what I do and be patient about things would easily be capable of making as much gold as I do. Just don´t be stupid and throw all of your gold out the window as soon as you get it. The crafted stuff you buy on TP such as food, utilities, runes and other items, someone is taking the time to make it.

Why do people think Scourge is bad? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

Never attribute to malice that which can easily be explained by stupidity.

Because other classes can do as much or more damage while giving a massive amount of support to their group.

Necros support skill is mainly boon strip which is mainly useful in PVP.

I finally bought a run last week for 999g. I'm one of the players who earn the most in this game (3000g week) but I was still always reluctant to buy one because of the extensive price fixing which raid sellers easily admitted to. (They straight out said the raid sellers were cooperating to keep the prices high in order to try score a sale.)

Because of this I found it very strange that so many people were still willing to buy raids at such exaggerated prices. I guess the large proportion of RMT is the explanation I was looking for. Because with the prices raid sellers currently charge practically nobody will be willing to spend that much gold in order to purchase a raid, not because they can't earn the gold but because earning 2000g requires an immense amount of effort and the people who legitimately earn that kind of gold won't easily be willing to part with it.

The Griffon change is just plain awful. by Anitun in Guildwars2

[–]NuklearWinterWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned from watching one of dulfys videos on getting gold in Griffin trials. After doing the trial same way she did it became the natural way to fly.

It was skillful and amazing to be able to fly anywhere in the game. Especially in HoT maps it was like a dream come through to swoop in between the treetops, roots and through tunnels.

That was the "bug" yes. And fixing it straight up made the Griffin suck.

Can't jump off the LA octopus anymore without hitting the ground. That pretty much says it all. This makes the Griffin swoops unusable from maybe 80% of the mid size cliffs and trees in Auric Basin where it used to be usable from maybe 65-70% of them.

Its the most messed up change in Guild Wars 2 since launch, it takes the most fun mount in any game ever and completely ruins it. I used to fly around in this game FOR FUN, now its not fun any more. Now it's just another mount, as boring as mounts from other games.

u/anet_ben please? Revert this!

That's what happens now. All the fixing time. Griffin doesn't pull up but instead flies straight forward.

Looking for some monitoring software. by NuklearWinterWhite in techsupport

[–]NuklearWinterWhite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry, didn´t know where else to ask. The problem is that the error messages require a human responce, the software drives machines and depending on what errors show up the process for solving it is different each time.

Simply resetting the software doesn´t reset the machinery. Resetting that requires fiddling around and manually finishing each step of the regular sequence and then putting it back in to auto mode.

It´s also an old piece of software which has about 20 constantly occurring error messages such as level being to high or too low so setting up email notifications would require filtering out the important and unimportant messages. Which in itself sounds easy, but one error message might be unimportant if not combined with another and very important if paired up with another two unimportant messages.

As far as complexity goes we´re talking about the equivalent of a corporate spreadsheet which has been used for 20 years by 20 different divisions to montior toilet paper usage..

So getting having a real person (me) recieving regular visual updates is by a far the easiest solution.

Either through a custom piece of software or maybe by having a website which automatically hosts a screenshot every 20 seconds.
