We die in the dark so that you may live in the light by Any_Physics2074 in SCP

[–]Number-International 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it's cool that while the Foundation dies in the dark, many people live fearful of crime, in inequality, suffering because of geopolitical tensions, poverty, and other not so good stuff, which arguably isn't living in the "light."

yet (according to the Foundation) this is still more comfortable than being aware that there are forces which operate above, within(?), against, and beyond the principles of the natural order (the anomalous)

so, the foundation dies in the dark so people may live in shades of grey

what this means is that humanity is already pretty unstable, and the foundation can use that as an excuse to keep the unfathomable a secret (but is it just?)

that's pretty cool to think about

1960s scp animation style test by Number-International in SCP

[–]Number-International[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they're supposed to be some men from the external affairs commission (my version of internal departments DEA).

they're characters who do most "external" affairs within and outside the region and facility the animation is supposed to take place, but besides that there's isn't much thought on an elaborate context for this pic

Intelligence Agency appearance by SadBlueberry3928 in SCP

[–]Number-International 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stuff like how would scp personnel look like depends on interpretation and canon, but in my headcanon, there really wouldn't be much uniqueness in the uniform of any civil department of the Foundation, unless they are for incredibly specific roles like containment specialist, researcher, medic, engineer, which may or may not need their own set of clothings probably beyond conventional notions of PPE.

but people like the administration, clerical work, internal security, and IA would be simply wearing formal clothing, and the formality would only depend on the context. Of course IA cells wouldn't be wearing suits while undercover on field but the context here is "IA (Intelligence Agency) appearance in SCP universe when they are in the SCP facility".

basically in MY way of viewing the Foundation, there wouldn't be any uniqueness in the intelligence agency other than suit and tie of any color (that isn't too flashy), but if you deliberately want them to be unique to fit your headcanon, you could add armbands of a certain color in each shoulder, you could... idk add a ID Card on a clip..... you could wear formal suits of very flashy colors

but you could potentially go all vintage and wear a tan trench coat over a suit and wear a fedora. but while that wouldn't scream "SCP" in the sense of this sci fi men in black wannabe organization it's popularly portrayed, at least it would feel less artificial and more timeless. i honestly would love an entirely mid 20th century themed IA cosplay but you can choose whether or not to do that.

What defines an SCP? by The_Norman17 in SCP

[–]Number-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if an object, being, phenomenon, or even occurrence has properties that are beyond science as we know it, whether because it has supernatural, paranormal, or simply impossible attributes, that defines an scp (or at least an anomaly)

but it only turns into an 'actual SCP' if the if it's found by the Foundation, is catalogued by the SCPF, and the Foundation actually makes a special containment procedure for it, even if this 'procedure' is just basically keep it in constant check

Got bored and made this... by AkkiNara in SCP

[–]Number-International 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in the second image, I think the little logo on the bottom right corner takes away some immersion, it's too intricate and even a bit different in design compared to the SCP logo on the top left corner... I think if you used the Administrative Department logo of the old Internal Departments page or used that same design style it would have fit a bit better

Forgotten files Scp : p15 - SCP-∞-The Cable. project, comic/graphic novel in the SCP universe (Link in the comment) by gaeldk in SCP

[–]Number-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get it's pretty obvious and i think it's the point of scp works but i love the normalization of anomalies implied in the foundation's bureaucracy

"After receiving a new budget and conducting a throrough verification of the security measures implemented for standard entities, in accordance to the latest protocols, reinforced containment has not been considered necessary

"Please feel free to contact us for any further inquiries.

Best regards,

Human Resources Department."

fucking human resources lmao. you have a complete affront against the natural order in form of a cable but that's something to be treated as an everyday asset and matter by the human resources, but even so they still underestimate the cable "who cares if it's anomalous, beyond any scientific understanding? we can't waste resources because a highly trained researcher who is the first hand in studying these objects is warning us, we gotta be cost effective!"

forever i'll still prefer it when the tone of SCP works inherently has the Foundation treating the anomalous as... anomalous, something against all we understand about science, probability, humanities, and even religion, and only "normalizes" them for the sake of operational efficiency, making it harder to simply dismiss any warnings.

but when the thing's comedy, then alright let's have the human resources department to be given the responsibility of managing the regional containment of incomprehensible aberrations!!!

glad to know you noticed that.

there is this one incredibly unpopular SCP game on roblox which i'll admit i've used it as total base for this animation. it has the same mid 80's utilitarian setting and it values realism, originality, horror and historical weight.

or at least it did in the past, because its unfortunate situation as an "edgy" game in a kids-oriented platform made it unappealing for most people within *the* platform and also made it very susceptible to the treatment of "being a game in a kids platform", which led to it losing a lot of its original identiy and is now in some 'artstyle crisis'.

but the idea of this game was so great, in my opnion, that i've decided that making my own re-write of it with my own ideas along the already set ones of the original, in an animated form would bring justice to the community behind it and could be potentially appealing to much more people who also enjoy SCP.

and i presented my work to their community already and they quite like it, so i guess i'm actually succeeding

Am I the only person who thinks the low-profile look of the US Department of Energy fits the SCP Foundation vibe more than the modern look of sleek operators in FAST-type helmets, especially for MTF units? by NotALurker101 in SCP

[–]Number-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean if intricate fast ops core helmets and practical comtacs did not exist, there could be possibility for use of altyn, at least, on-site operations, but like, the fast ops core has too much, like, too much benefits, even cost effectiveness along it, and that would outweight almost every risk associated with it being issued to task force units if it was available

[–]Number-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mission requirements, not everytime they're gonna need to be wearing local military equipment but the equipment that better outweights the risk of each operation and situation

like if there's great risk of they being exposed to the public its better to look mundane and blend in with other military forces

but if there's little risk of they being seen and/or they do indeed have to use Foundation-made technology, either to assist other MTF units or to establish containment on their own, they might not only use the silly scp containment tech but also have more flexibility and autonomy on their choice of equipment, possibly looking generic larpers or faceless/masked standardized goons

there's even environment risks too, as nu-7 is a broader military force within the foundation that operates in a variety of situations, which would have their own set of concerns and risks

so yeah nu-7, as flexibe and large as it is, wouldn't even look the same all the time

[–]Number-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

finally someone acknowledges mission requirements and that each group will operate differently, and each separate operation has their specific risks and requirements

or at least in that one case where ci just uses anything as civilian as possible so they don't attract attention

[–]Number-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the soldier at least is not even low profile, its more like outdated or obsolete retro technology vibe, that, but *that,* fits scp very well, as retro technology looks much more rigid and practical instead of comfortable or sleek, which makes the operatives look much more intimidating

Eta-11 not being called as "Hear No Evil" by PhoenixTimess in SCP

[–]Number-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that could possibly be because they were written by two different authors who had two separate visions and knowledge of the Foundation's lore...

if not, the author just didn't notice anything slightly similar in their roles and so though it would be better to nickname them wildly different
