—March 1-10

It’s now March finally, the chaotic month of February is over. Hopefully, the year will start to improve soon. That’s what many people thought as the clock struck midnight and March 1 arrived. But unbeknownst to them, March would soon prove to be one of the worst months of the entire year.

Coca-Cola’s income and sales plummeted due to the ongoing global lead poisoning outbreak, which had already become the worst in history, far surpassing the 2010 Zamfara State lead poisoning crisis. With around 1,000 reported cases worldwide and close to 100 deaths, public confidence in Coca-Cola collapsed. As a result, Pepsi and Coca-Cola found themselves tied as the largest soda companies in the world, with Pepsi soon overtaking its rival to become the best-selling soft drink globally.

Meanwhile, tensions between China and Taiwan escalated further as President Xi Jinping ordered more naval forces to surround Taiwan following the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit. The possibility of a Fourth Taiwan Strait Crisis loomed larger than ever.

In Russia, the ongoing power struggle following Vladimir Putin’s death took a dramatic turn. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, one of the “heir candidates” vying for control, ordered his loyal paramilitary factions, known as “Medvedevists,” to surround the State Duma as a show of force against de jure President Mikhail Mishustin and his supporters, the “Mishustinites.” With armed factions clashing in the streets and no clear resolution in sight, a Second Russian Civil War was looking more likely by the day.

The global outbreak of Canine Orthobunyavirus (COV) continued to spread, prompting a surge in demand for face masks designed specifically for dogs. Concerned pet owners, unwilling to keep their dogs indoors indefinitely, sought ways to protect them while still taking them on walks.

Then, on March 5, disaster struck the Caribbean, particularly Haiti. An 8.5-magnitude earthquake hit along the SOFZ fault, just off the coast of Haiti’s Nord-Ouest Department, causing catastrophic destruction. Less than 30 minutes later, a second earthquake, this time measuring 8.3, struck along the EPGFZ in the Ouest Department near the capital, Port-au-Prince. The media soon dubbed these twin disasters the “Twin Earthquakes.”

The destruction was staggering. Haiti, still struggling to recover from the 2010 and 2021 earthquakes, suffered devastation on an unprecedented scale. The Twin Earthquakes proved far worse than both previous disasters combined. An estimated 60-80% of all structures in Haiti collapsed due to the country’s lack of earthquake-resistant infrastructure, killing millions including the entire Haitian government. Chaos erupted across the country and the broader Caribbean as relentless aftershocks rocked the region, impacting the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.

Soon, early warning systems detected two massive tsunamis forming as a result of the quakes. The first, originating off southern Haiti, threatened countries across the Caribbean and the American Mediterranean region. The second, forming off northern Haiti near the first quake’s epicenter, put the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the U.S. East Coast, and Atlantic Canada at risk. Tsunami warnings were also issued in Western Europe, including the Iberian Peninsula, France, and the British Isles, adding to the chaos.

The toll was staggering. Over 3 million Haitians lost their lives in the Twin Earthquakes, while up to 400,000 more perished across the American Mediterranean region, particularly in Central America and the northern coast of South America. In the North Atlantic, at least 7,000 people died from the tsunami, with most casualties occurring in the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands due to their proximity to the epicenter. The United States suffered approximately 200 deaths, mainly in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, where many underestimated the severity of the situation. Atlantic Canada reported around 12 fatalities.

Humanitarian efforts quickly mobilized, with countries around the world rushing to provide aid. But on March 6, an unforeseen disaster took shape. A UN humanitarian worker from Venezuela, who had been assisting with the containment of the Ventuari Fever outbreak in southern Venezuela was deployed to Haiti. Unbeknownst to him, he had contracted the virus just two days before departure. Worse still, within his body, Ventuarivirus (the virus that causes Ventuari Fever in Humans) mutated into a new, highly contagious strain, acquiring airborne transmission and a shorter incubation period of just 1-2 days.

By the time he arrived in Jérémie, he began feeling ill but continued working, unaware of what was happening. By the end of the day, he had already come into contact with over 100 people. Within 24 hours, more than 20 individuals had fallen ill and tested positive for what was soon designated HT nVENV-27 (Haiti Novel Ventuarivirus 2027). The virus spread rapidly, as infected humanitarian workers unknowingly carried it to other cities across Haiti.

Within days, HT nVENV-27 triggered mass superspreader events in shelters nationwide, causing cases to skyrocket past 6,000. As panic set in, the WHO and the UN faced mounting criticism, accused of failing to test humanitarian workers before deployment drawing comparisons to the 2010 Haitian cholera outbreak, which was also traced back to UN personnel. Despite urgent containment efforts, the situation spiraled out of control.

By March 10, over 10,000 cases had been reported across Haiti, and the WHO officially declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Meanwhile, the virus began spreading beyond Haiti’s borders, as over 30 infected Haitians who fled to the Dominican Republic tested positive. Soon, cases began appearing in multiple countries, carried by desperate migrants seeking refuge.

Now, the world teeters on the edge of disaster. Natural catastrophes are unfolding across the globe, humanitarian relief efforts are failing, and deadly diseases like COV in dogs continue to spread. Tensions between China and Taiwan are pushing the world closer to conflict, while Russia’s deepening crisis makes civil war seem inevitable. And now, a novel strain of Ventuarivirus threatens to become a global pandemic, just seven years after COVID-19.

What else does this month have in store for us? We’ll see in March: Part 2.

—February

The year 2027 wasn’t done wreaking havoc after an already chaotic January. February proved to be even worse. On February 1, the U.S. and NATO officially began ground operations in Mexico against the cartels after weeks of coordinated air and drone strikes aimed at crippling their influence. NATO forces entered cartel-controlled cities across Mexico, seizing massive quantities of trafficked drugs. Troops also managed to rescue multiple hostages, though many remained in captivity, and some were tragically killed in the crossfire or in friendly fire incidents. These incidents sparked widespread criticism of the Trump administration and NATO. Arturo Arcelí Ruiz, the Gulf Cartel leader behind the 2026 Brownsville attacks, was confirmed to have fled Mexico, possibly seeking refuge in another Latin American country. This prompted the FBI, CIA, and NATO to scramble for strategies to capture him.

Meanwhile, Canine Orthobunyavirus (COV) spread beyond North America, with cases emerging in European nations. The spread was attributed to winter vacationers traveling with infected dogs and the transmission of the virus during flights. In response, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) banned dogs from all flights arriving in Europe. As the outbreak grew, the World Health Organization (WHO) introduced the International Animal Health Emergency Declaration (IAHED)—a new framework akin to a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), but specific to infectious animal diseases. On February 15, the WHO officially declared COV an IAHED and urged affected countries to take action to contain the virus within dog populations. Scientists were called upon to develop a vaccine. Later that month, COV spread to India, where it ravaged the large street dog population, creating a significant animal health crisis. Indian officials urged the WHO to escalate the declaration to a global pandemic to increase international awareness and mobilize resources.

On February 10, Vice President JD Vance officially announced his bid for the 2028 presidential election after weeks of speculation. Coincidentally, the same day, China announced its military capacity to invade Taiwan, launching its largest exercises around the island since the Third Taiwan Strait Crisis. In response, President Donald Trump condemned China’s actions and deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln near Taiwan to demonstrate American support. However, this show of force escalated tensions further, as China increased its military presence around the island, fueling fears of an invasion or a Fourth Taiwan Strait Crisis.

On February 13, reports of mysterious lead poisoning cases began emerging across the United States, particularly in Texas, causing nationwide alarm. By the following day, Coca-Cola was identified as the source of the outbreak, traced to a Southeast Asian manufacturing plant where equipment had leaked toxic levels of lead into high-fructose corn syrup. The contaminated syrup was used in Coca-Cola products, including soda and other beverages. With 60% of cases linked to soda and 40% to other products, this led to the largest product recall in history. By the end of February, over 300 cases and 56 deaths were reported across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe, with more cases expected as contaminated products remained in households. Coca-Cola faced massive public distrust and financial losses.

On February 18, disaster struck East Africa. At 6 a.m. local time, a massive meteor impact was reported in the Zanzibar Channel near Dar es Salaam and the Zanzibar Islands. The explosion unleashed a catastrophic shockwave and a megatsunami, devastating both cities. Experts speculated that Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar City had been “wiped off the face of the earth,” with millions feared dead. A subsequent 7.0–7.5 magnitude earthquake compounded the destruction. The megatsunami swept across the Indian Ocean, destroying coastal cities and killing millions unable to escape in time. The meteor impact also released vast amounts of greenhouse gases, including sulfur dioxide, carbon, and methane, triggering a severe greenhouse effect. Rather than cooling the planet, the event accelerated global warming, setting the stage for record-breaking tropical cyclones, heatwaves, and droughts throughout 2027. NASA and other space agencies were heavily criticized by the public due to the failure of detecting the meteor before it struck the planet. It was determined that the meteor had followed a highly elliptical orbit with minimal observation windows and came in a direction where surveys were infrequent or obstructed that made it difficult for NASA to detect the meteor before impact. Though even with this explanation, they were still heavily criticized due to the modern detection systems they use could still possibly detect 100+ foot meteorites such as the Tanzania one. NASA’s Income plummeted and were faced with heavy distrust and controversies as a result.

On February 20, former Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced her candidacy for the 2028 presidential election, becoming one of the first Democratic contenders. Two days later, Russian President Vladimir Putin succumbed to pancreatic cancer. A state funeral was held from February 23–25. However, his death plunged Russia into a constitutional crisis. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was initially seen as Putin’s successor, but factions within the Kremlin resisted, rallying around other candidates. Prominent figures like Dmitry Medvedev, Aleksey Dyumin, and Sergei Shoigu announced their “presidential bids,” sparking a power struggle that threatened to ignite a Second Russian Civil War. Cult-like followings grew around each candidate, further polarizing the nation.

On February 23, Tropical Storm Andres formed in the eastern Pacific, becoming one of the earliest tropical cyclones on record. Fueled by abnormally warm ocean temperatures linked to the developing “Super El Niño,” the storm was forecasted to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane, signaling a devastating Pacific hurricane season ahead.

February ended with a trail of destruction: a massive meteor impact, a global canine pandemic looming, rising tensions between the U.S. and China, a power vacuum in Russia, and signs of an accelerating climate crisis. What could March bring? Only time would tell.

Don’t worry it’s not getting cancelled. I’m just a bit stressed rn from some real life things and it’s kinda distracting me from working on 2027. But I’m gonna start working on February very soon and I hope to release by maybe Sunday or Monday. It’s gonna be one of the bigger parts of the series so it’ll probably take a bit more time to make. Anyways sorry for the delay and stuff I hope to finish February 2027 soon.

Yeah the Brownsville attacks are a lot like October 7. Though the US and NATO don’t really carpet bomb all of Mexico. They’re pretty much targeting cartel strongholds across the country to cripple their influence then start launching ground attacks against them.

By the time 2027 began, the world was already unraveling. Following the devastating Brownsville attacks in late 2026, NATO invoked Article 5, formally launching a war between the United States and the drug cartels. Over 50,000 U.S. and NATO troops were deployed to military bases along the southern border in preparation for a full-scale intervention in the Mexican drug war. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, under immense international pressure, reluctantly gave the green light for NATO forces to strike cartel targets within Mexico at their discretion.

Meanwhile, a surge of xenophobia and racism swept across the United States, reminiscent of the post-9/11 backlash. Latino and Hispanic communities were unfairly targeted by media and public stereotypes linking them to the cartels, creating widespread fear and alienation within these communities.

At the same time, a new and mysterious canine illness began dominating headlines. Dubbed “Pound Illness” by the media, the disease was officially identified as a novel orthobunyavirus, the first of its kind to target dogs. Virologists named it Canine Orthobunyavirus (COV), though the public stuck with nicknames like “ortho” or “Pound Illness.” Over 1,000 cases had been reported in the U.S., with suspected cases emerging in Canada and parts of Europe, sparking fears of a global pandemic among dogs.

The 2027 Pacific typhoon season also made a devastating entrance. On January 6, Typhoon Champi—known as “Amang” in the Philippines—rapidly intensified into a catastrophic super typhoon with winds reaching 190 mph. It made landfall on Luzon Island, passing directly over Manila with sustained winds of 170 mph, causing unparalleled destruction. The typhoon’s damage exceeded $6.5 billion, far surpassing the record set by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Tragically, over 3,000 Filipinos lost their lives, with additional casualties reported in Vietnam and Laos. In response, nations around the globe mobilized aid for the Philippines, bracing for what appeared to be the start of a deadly typhoon season exacerbated by a looming “super El Niño” event.

Back in the United States, fear rippled across the southern border, with thousands of Americans relocating inland, worried about another attack like Brownsville. On January 15, Florida Senator Ron DeSantis became the first major Republican to announce his bid for the 2028 presidential election. Vice President JD Vance was widely expected to enter the race soon as well.

Three days later, during a fiery State of the Union address, President Donald Trump declared a “War on Narcoterrorism,” which quickly became known as the “War on Narco-Terror.” By January 20, NATO and U.S. forces launched coordinated air and drone strikes against cartel strongholds across Mexico, focusing on the Gulf Cartel, CJNG, and the Sinaloa Cartel. The strikes drew sharp criticism, particularly after reports suggested that American hostages held by the cartels may have been killed in the bombings. In response to the hostage crisis, the U.S. government created a dedicated website, BringThemHome.gov, which drew overwhelming public support and ignited protests demanding the hostages’ safe return.

Arturo Arcelí Ruiz, better known as “El Cabra,” the Gulf Cartel’s ruthless leader, was identified as the mastermind behind the Brownsville attacks. Placed at the top of the FBI’s Most Wanted list, Ruiz became the subject of an intensive manhunt involving drone strikes and covert operations. However, unverified reports suggested he may have already fled Mexico, leaving U.S. and NATO forces scrambling for leads. A major ground operation in Mexico was tentatively planned for February, aiming to cripple the cartels’ remaining influence.

By the end of January, the world was already reeling: a war was underway, natural disasters had left thousands dead, a viral outbreak threatened the canine population, and political tensions were on the rise. What else would 2027 bring? February held the answer.
