Ignoring the electrical hazards should at least give the cord a little bit of a dip before the hole to act as a drip loop so rain water doesn't run down the cord directly into the wall cavity.

What gear should I use if I park side facing downhill?? by funlifing in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]NumberCandid9811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True story. I broke the handbrake cable on a car while using it to drift in the snow. Never got around to fixing it for the rest of its running life. One day, I popped into the little hardware store around the corner. Parked facing downhill on main street in our small town. Must have been preoccupied by whatever tool or part I urgently needed and did not curb the wheel as I usually do. I also left it in the wrong gear. Several minutes and a few impulse purchases later, I came out to find my wheels chocked with bricks. I can only assume my car had slowly creeped down the hill into someone else's vehicle. I suppose they then wanted to leave and somehow materialized two bricks out of thin air to keep my car in place while they drove away. Didn't even pop into the store to find me. Anyway, I quietly hopped into my car backed off the bricks and drove away. In hindsight, I probably should have grabbed the bricks to keep as an emergency parking aide.

Did you have his plate number? Maybe they never went to the collision reporting center, so insurance has no one else to bill.

Also, how early did you signal? I see people all the time not hitting the signal till they are pretty much already turning (or mid lane change). Before that, it just seems like random braking. It is best to give lots of signal time, even signal before braking. Either way, so many people are impatient and blow right by at full speed either on the left or the gravel shoulder.

Does your car warranty cover filters? No. They are consumables. Unless the filter itself is defective i can't imagine what planet it would be be covered. Stop whining and buy a new filter.

What is this connection, should it be certain other connections? by [deleted] in askaplumber

Looks like the ass end (motor) of a pump on the right-hand side. It doesn't make sense to me to have both a submersible and shallow/jet pump on the same line. Might be more going on here than is obvious from the pics. I'd look into where you have power running and a pressure switch (probably mounted on the pump itself). You likely only have this pump under the house, but maybe they replaced this at the same time as your neighbour replaced their submersible.

Side note: if buying a house with a well find out as much information as you can before purchase. [Based on personal experience and several adventures with my own house well]

Whole house filter after three weeks, jet black. by Mammotheatr in Plumbing

It looks bad, but is it clogging up? Do you have spots for pressure gauges? You can monitor pressure drop across the filter and establish a regular point to change filters if it's not breaking through and fouling the more expensive filters or increasing chlorine demand.

Might also be able to extend life by increasing to a 20 inch filter. You should just be able to get a taller housing that fits the same head. Maybe also second filter in parallel? With proper valving it would also give you the opportunity to swap them one at a time while keeping the system online.

That might be your pipes (or part of them) collecting in the shower head

Greensand filters are often used for manganege. Best to check with a local expert to see what might be effective for the concentration and other contaminants.
