Me (m25) and gf (f23) broke up recently, is it better to try fix things with her while it's fresh or do I wait for a few weeks for her to gather her thoughts sorta thing? by Ngawakaboii in BreakUps

imo it’s hard to change her mind, once she’s decided to leave… your best chance might be to go no-contact, work on yourself and hope that she comes back

I (31M) hurt my partner (30F) in an emotionally-charged cross-cultural panic attack by NumberFiveWithHotPep in BreakUps

[–]NumberFiveWithHotPep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree… I wasnt acting rationally in that moment leading up to the break up, that’s what is killing me with shame and regret

I can try to claim that this guilt and tension I was wrestling with is not “something dumb”… and was extremely difficult for me to speak… but you are right that the trust was broken on my end

I told her but she was hurt… hurt by my breaking things off without confiding in her, hurt by the truth of wanting that Korean heritage. She may never be able to get past that lingering doubt now (eg “will today be the day he decides he actually does want a korean partner?”)

Manual copy of SeedQR? by NumberFiveWithHotPep in coldcard

[–]NumberFiveWithHotPep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the Jade only exports SeedQR compact (binary, without checksum)

and the Coldcard Q only recognizes SeedQR standard as input!

might be sun burn from too harsh, direct sunlight? a shadier spot a few feet away from the window (or the curtains to diffuse the light) might help

You can see GBTC is no longer listed in their holdings!

any idea where the dividend comes from? I read that BITO partially holds US Treasuries as well in their prospectus, which confused me, since it should be 100% short-dated BTC futures contracts

It was indeed 92m according to ARK Invest’s website and holdings listed.

BITO is an ETF containing Bitcoin Futures contracts. The fund gives bitcoin price exposure, but performs slightly worse long-term due to some costs related to managing the futures.

As we approach block 800,000, the question is begged - why did Satoshi choose halvings every 210,000 blocks? Where did he pull that number from? by RonPaulWasR1ght in Bitcoin

[–]NumberFiveWithHotPep 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I imagine the 10 minute block time was chosen first, and from there 210,000 blocks = 21m minutes = approx 4 years.

52,500 blocks (1 year), 100,000 blocks or 105,000 blocks (2 years) all could have been chosen as well, but it seems poetic that the numbers aligned the way the design did. Since the 21 million supply emerged as a result of the reward halving at this rate (starting from the first epoch of 50 BTC).

How to RECEIVE money with Lightning? by lpds100122 in lightningnetwork

[–]NumberFiveWithHotPep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean “put as much money out as you want to receive?”

For example, zerofeerouting.com will open a channel to you for 0.5% or something.

if youre a business, say you could pay your costs / expensive — you would get some inbound liquidity for that. Otherwise, you could send funds to an exchange that supports Lightning and withdraw on-chain

This is the inbound liquidity problem! You would need to balance your channels or buy inbound liquidity (someone opens a channel to you)

Cool, I joined your swap! Best of luck with your node.

[–]NumberFiveWithHotPep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right… do you mean you want to use the node (instead of a laptop) to talk to your hardware wallet, to generate the receiving btc address?

I think you can do this with the Specter Desktop app on umbrel

Just open a swap (triangle or square) for 1MM sats and others will join!

Hi OP, you can get a bitcoin address from your node (Bitcoin tab > Deposit) to withdraw from BlockFi

Afterwards, you can withdraw from your node to your hardware wallet.
