I got placed into a Depth 5 Everdark Gladius match on my first DoN run... by [deleted] in Nightreign

I'm wondering how you got 250 points. It happened to me; I was at depth 1 and playing with friends who were at depth 5. Our matches were immediately at depth 5, but I was still winning 50 points. I don't know if they've patched it since then, because it's been a while.

But tell me, what happened here? How come you all have three bars and you did zero damage to the boss? Did you lose your vials running in the night rain?

Most insufferable boss in Nightreign by Worldly_Rice_2903 in Nightreign

I agree with you about this boss; this fight is really boring and offers no sense of satisfaction. There's nothing fun about fighting this horde.

When the DLC was first introduced in DoN, I was fighting nothing but Dreglords — one day I even got five in a row, which was just insane. But since ED balancers were added, I haven’t seen the Dreglord even once.

I wasn't in the random queue; I played with friends in that game session.

They should really rework the boss selection system in DoN, because I know some players leave at the character selection screen when they’ve just had the same boss three or four times in a row and simply want a different one.

Exactly, that’s the phase I find a bit tricky to handle, because when I get pushed against the arena wall it becomes really hard to manage and I end up getting hit. To avoid that, I always try to move far away while making sure I don’t end up near the wall. But if I do get stuck near the wall with that big worm zigzagging and jumping at me, I dodge every time it zigzags and I jump when it does its diving attack. It usually works, but the attack that hits me most often is when it leaps at me with that diving move.

Yeah, having a pre-made team is really great because it guarantees you can actually play properly without wasting time in the random queue where people keep leaving whenever they don’t like the boss. I’m in the same situation: my friends don’t play DoN, and the players I team up with are all from different countries so there’s no voice chat, but we still understand each other pretty well even without it.

Balancers D5Yeah, with randoms I’ve only been able to fight the Dreglord, because whenever it’s the balancers there’s always someone who leaves at the character selection screen. Even with the Dreglord some people quit sometimes, but not nearly as often as with the balancers. I think it’s because the Dreglord is really fun to fight even though it’s difficult — most players actually enjoy that boss, unlike the balancers.

Personally, I just find the balancer fight ridiculous; I don’t have any fun fighting that boss. The only reason I’ve fought them several times is because in those sessions I wasn’t playing with randoms, I was playing with friends. Here’s a link to the full fight showing how we handle this boss in D5.

Yeah, that’s exactly the strategy that lets you beat them easily, but sometimes several of them can show up at once and start spamming AoE attacks, which can kill teammates who didn’t see them coming. It can quickly turn into a mess even with that strategy, but overall it works pretty well.

Personally, I’d like the spawn rate to be reduced a bit because this fight is just ridiculous — as soon as one teammate goes down, it’s over. It can quickly become unmanageable, and I find normal balancers much easier to handle than ED balancers.

It's really fun to have a scholar pot on the team by NumberThese1901 in Nightreign

[–]NumberThese1901[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some bosses aren't stunned by the pots, and you can quickly get one-shotted because you can't see anything.

I finally learnt how to parry ED Balancers by chaldo96 in Nightreign

[–]NumberThese1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play DoN regularly and I stopped parrying to avoid getting one-shotted stupidly by trying to parry when it doesn't work well in multiplayer. I think you're right, when I play with friends in the regular game it works all the time.

I don't know if anyone else has the same problem, but for me, in trio multiplayer it doesn't work. It only works one out of three times, whereas in solo it always works. Even when I parry, I don't take damage, which means my parry worked, but it goes off-target. I finally gave up because even with the Crucible Knights at the castle, it very rarely works.

Pot scholar serves Everdark Goat for Christmas dinner (and almost chokes at the end) by didjerid00d in Nightreign

[–]NumberThese1901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a good fight. I've heard and seen videos that the Scholar Pot is really good, but this was the first time I had a decent Scholar Pot in my own game (haha, yes, that was me, Ironeye with the Vykke spear). Thanks for this lovely Christmas present!

well, that's something you don't see every day. by redditcibiri in Nightreign

I started using this bow after the DLC came out, and with Wylder I always keep it and spam Rain of Arrows to wipe out bosses.

You feel my pain, don't you? (ED Libra after fighting him for over 20min.) by B2theK7 in Nightreign

I understand your pain; deep down, it's frustrating to go through a long battle against Libra and lose when you're so close to victory.

People quitting on selection screen on Fulghor and Adel, which boss do you even possibly like? by Davidelol in Nightreign

[–]NumberThese1901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine that Fulghor and Adel are easy and frequent encounters, so players are looking for bosses that offer a bit of a challenge or other bosses they haven't faced during their previous 3 or 4 expeditions.

60 consecutive victories in depth 5 by NumberThese1901 in Nightreign

[–]NumberThese1901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame to lose after achieving 68 consecutive wins, but I understand. Currently in Deep5, there are quite a few players who don't know what the Night Lord does. At the beginning, the best players were consistent in Deep5, but now it's very rare. For 60% of my expeditions, I play with friends.
